Present: Councilmen Victor Boido, Chas. K. Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph Sani,
Emilio Cortesi.
The meeting was called to order byMayor Ferko at 7:15 p.m.
The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all
members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked if any errors or omissions were
noted. There being none the minutes were approved as submitted.
The proposed Subdivision Ordinance came up for consideration. Mr. M. W. Morris,
Executive Vice President of the Associated Home Builders of San Francisco, addressed
the council and asked for an extension of time, possibly sixty days, on the proposed
Subdivision Ordinance. He submitted a letter incorporating certain proposed amend-
ments to the Ordinance. The City Attorney stated any proposed amendments should be
submitted in writing. Councilman Sani said there were certain items in the Ordinance
which, to his m~d, needed clarifying. Mayor ~erko suggested that the city council
and a committee from the Associated Home Builders meet informally and discuss this
ordinance. This was satisfactory to Mr. Morris and a meeting was scheduled for
March 23, 1950 at 7:30 p.m. in South San Francisco.
Communication was received from the San Mateo County Traffic Safety Commission
requesting that a committee be appointed to represent the city to consider traffic~
Safety in the County. Mayor Ferko submitted the following names for appointment to
the various committees:
General Chairman representing the city - Councilman Adolph Sani
(a) Education - Councilman Chas. K. ~lder, C~airman
(b) ~ngineering - Councilman ~milio Oortesi, Chairman
Mark Larwood, City Manager
(c) Enforcement - Councilman Victor Boido, Chairman
Chief of Police Louis Belloni
(d) Publicity -Ems McClung of the Enterprise Press
It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the appointments as submitted by
the Mayor be approved.
Communication was received from Tom Williams submitting a list of property owners on
Alta Vista Drive stating they desired to have this road paved. The Works Engineer
was instructed to prepare a preliminary cost of this work. Councilman Cortesi was
appointed to follow through on this matter.
It was the desir~ of the boy scouts that the cabin at the Orange Avenue Memorial Park
be enlarged. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that material be purchased
for the expansion of boy scout quarters at Orange Avenue Memorial Park; same not to
exceed $500.00 to be paid from the general fund. ~
Councilman Sani stated he and the City ~nager had attended meeting of the Library
Board with reference to enlarging the library; this work estimated to cost
approximately $25,000.00. It was regularly moved, seconded and ~arried that the
Library Board proceed with the preparations of the plans and specifications for the
enlarging of the Library Building provided they were able to arrange for payment of
the plans and specifications.
Mr. Weller of the Housing Authemity addressed the Council and turned over to the city
two checks totaling $6,~33.~9 covering in lieu of taxes on the Lindenville and
Palau Housing Projects. ·
Councilman Sani introduced a resolution amending Resolution No. 1520 calling an
election for the formation of park recreation and parkway district. This resolution
was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council.
Frank Calerio submitted an application for a business license for a used car lot at
9&6 E1 Camino A~al. Same was laid over for She week.
The City Manager advised that he had attended a meeting of the executive committee
of the League of California Cities and had been appointed as a committee to work
with the supervisors with the thought of obtaining more money for the City from the
Gas Tax Fund.
On motion of Councilman Sani, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to Monday, March 20, 1950 at 8:00 p.m.
