The meetin~ was called to order at 8 p. m. by Mayor Sani.

Councilmen Victor Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani, Joseph Bracco,
Fmilio Cortesi.
None.
The Clerk having forwarded copies of the minutes of the meetings of October 30,
1950 and November 2, 1950 to all councilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any
errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted.
Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Boido and reD~]_srly carried, that
bids for the sale of building in Belair Island be opened. The following bids
were received:

The awardin~ of the contract was laid over.

Communication was received from the South San Francisco Land Co. advising they
were ready to deed right of ways required for Spruce Avenue, ~ncludin~ undeeded
portions of South Canal Street. Councilman Elder moved, seconded bM Councilman
Boido, and re~larly carried, that t~e Works Engineer be empowered to submit the
necessary descriptions of the property.
Communication was received from Associated Improvement Clubs asking nermission to
use the Council Chambers or City Court Room for a meeting ~ovember 28. On motion
duly made, seconded and regularly carried, permission was ~ranted for the Club
to use the City Court Room. ~

Communication was received from Works Engineer R~ndlett recommendin~ that prog-
ress payment of ,~10,167.16 be made to C. ~orman Peterson on t~e Pump House re-
construction. Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Bra¢co, and
regularly carried, that the claim be paid.
Communication was received from ?~orks Engineer Randlett recommending certain
change orders for Pump House reconstr~ction, advising changes had been approved
bv City Engineer l,~ite of San Bruno. Councilman Elc~er moved, seconded by Coun-
cilman Boido, and regularly carried, that the recommer~ations of the ?~orks
Engineer be accepted.
Communication was received from the Recreation Commission recommending trees on
the east and. west side of Orange Avenue Memorial Park Recreation Buildin~ be re-
moved; that the space around the buildin~ be covered with asphalt and cement.
The proposed work would cost a~proximately $~00.00. The matter was laid over for
investigation.
A communication was received from the City Clerk listing the expiration dates of
Recreation Commission members as follows:

The communication was ordered filed for reference.
Communication was received from Fire Chief ~felte advising that Edward Rodondi
renorted for duty with the Fire Department November lst; that Asst. Chief John
Marchi reported for duty November ]_st after an absence since August lath due to
injuries received in line of duty. On motion of CounciIman Elder, seconded by
Councilman Boido, and reD~larly carried, Edward Rodondi's appointment as Fireman
November 1st, and Purnell Shaffley's appointment as Police Officer October 15th
were confirmed.
A communication was received from Standard Oil Company asking permission to
erect a steel ~araKe buildin~ at ?ills Field. Councilman Elder moved, seconded
by Councilman Boido, and rem~larly carried, that the permit be granted pro-
vided all buildin~ codes are corn?lied with.
A communication ,gas received from A. W. Sorich Bucket and Drum Co. asking per-
mission to erect a steel building at South ~.[a~le and Canal Street. On motion
duly made, seconded, and re.ffularlv carried, permission was ~ranted provided all
building codes are complied with.
Application for busines~ license for pattern makin~ at 137 South Linden Avenue
was received from Cecil Tuff. Motion was duly made, seconded, and re.~ularly
carried, that license be ~ranted.
A~plication. for business license for book and ~ift shop at ].29 Southwood Center
was received from Fred J. Murray. Motion was duly made, seconded, and regularly
carried, that license be ~ranted.
Claims in the amount of $2~,627.3~ were ar:proved by the Finance Committee. On
motion duly made, seconded, and regularly carried, claims as submitted were order-
ed paid.
Reports for the month of October were received from the Fire Chief, Building
Inspector, and City Judge. On motion duly made, seconded, and re~]larly carried,
the reports as submitted were accepted. Mayor Sani asked that the Fire Chief
include in his monthly report the amounts of loss sustained in fires as reported.
Councilman Bracco submitted his resignation as member of the Plannin~ Commission
stating additional b~siness and city work made it impossible for him to continue
as Planning Commission member. On motion by Councilman Elder, secopded by Coun-
cilman Cortesi and regularly carried, Mr. Bracco's resignation was accepted.
The City Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Bracco, thanking him for his work on
this Commission. ~
A con%munication was received from the Calray Co. submitting plans and specifi-
cations for erection of the olant of the Bucym]s-Erie Company. Councilman Elder
moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi, and re~ularly carried, that a building
permit be issued to Bucyrus-Erie Company ~rovided all building re~lations are
complied with.
Communication was received from the Lea,~e of California Cities, Peninsula Divi-
sion, advising a dinner meeting would be ~eld at Bondy's, 1360 E1 Camino Real,
Belmont, November 16, 1950. Communication ordered filed.
Communication was received from ~ernard McCaffery Post No. 355 asking permission
to hold a dance at American Legion }tall November .10th from 9 P. m. to 1 a. m.
On motion duly made, seconded, and regularly carried, permission was ~ranted.
RESOLUTION ~0. 1590
S~'.TAGE DISPOSAL PLANT:
Councilman Boido introduced a resolution approving form of ayreement dated
October 31, 1950, between the City of South San Francisco and City of San Br~]no,
and f, hat the City of South San Francisco enter into an azreement with the City
of San Br~]no. This resolution was adopted by t~e unanimous vote of all members
of the city council.

PLANT:
Councilman Bracco introduced a resol~tion awarding the contract for the cons-
truction of a sewage disposal plant to M ~ K Corporation. This resolution was
aUopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the city council.

Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution arprovin~ form of a~reement dated
October 19, 1950, between the City of So~th San Francisco an~Stonecrest Corpora-
tion. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the
City Council.
Councilman Cortesi brouzht up the ~tter of como]aints received of odors eminatin~
from the Atlas Lead ComDany on South I~inden Avenue. The matter was referred to
City Attorney Co]_eberd.
COMMENDING CITY DEPART- Councilman Bracco commended the members of the Police, Fire, and Street Depart-
ME~TS-COLUMBUS DAY PARADE:ments on their wonderful work durin~ the Columbus Day Parade October 22nd.
DISCUSSION SPRUCE AVE.
I~ROVEM~fT:
A representative from the Brentwood Merchants' Association and the President of
the Associated Improvement Clubs addressed the City Council re~arding Spruce
Avenue improvement. City Manager Larwood advised it was necessary to receive
permission to cross the Southern Pacific tracks and that pro,tess was bein~ made.

R~$~T DECONTROL:
Property owners headed by Fred 7~,~elan and Pete Mairani appeared before the City
Council and asked for help to end rent control in South San Francisco. City
Attorney Coleberd was instn~cted to prepare a petition for circulation by those
interested in rent decontrol.
ADJOURNMenT:
On motion of Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Elder, and re~.]arly
carried, the meeting was adjourned to Monday, November ]-3, 1950 at 4:30 p. m.
