ROLL C ALL: Present: Councilmen Victor Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi Absent: Councilmen Joseph Bracco (Arrived at 4:50 p. m.) CALL TO ORDEH: MINUTES: The meeting was called to order at 4:&O p. m. by Mayor Sani. City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all councilmen, ~yor Sani asked if there were any errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted. RESOLUTION NO. 1702 DEED, MANTEGANI: CounciLman Elder introduced a resolution accepting deed from Giovanni and Caroline Mantegani covering parcel of land near Hillside Blvd. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. RESOLUTION NO. 1703 ALIDA STREET: Councilman Boido introduced a resolution changing the name of "A" Street in the Brentwood Subdivision to Alida Street. This resolution was adopted by the unan- imous vote of all members of the council present. RESOLUTION NO. 170& Councilman Boido introduced a resolution requesting the State Hig~ay Patrol HIGHWAY PATROL INCRFASE: Commissioner to increase the number of Highway Patrolmen on the Bayshore Highway. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. Councilman Bracco arrived at ~:50 p. m. RESOLUTION NO. 1705 SEWER RENTALS: Councilman Elder introduced a resolution amending resolution No. 1639 covering sewer .rentals, to specify rates on auto courts, motels and trailer courts. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council. SPRUCE AVENUE C!~VERT AWARD: A letter was received by the Works Fngineer from the Division of Highways ad- vising that they could not recommend approval of the awarding of a contract to the low bidder as the bid exceeded the engineer's estimate by 23.6%. They asked that a letter of explanation of the difference be sent to the Highway Division. Works Engineer Randlett stated he would advise the Division of Highways and no doubt would have a reply by next' meeting night. CAPTAINS FIRE DEPT: Communication was received from Fire Chief Welte requesting the appointment of two men on the eligible list as Captains of the Fire Department. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the request of the Fire Chief be granted and the two eligible men be ap- pointed Captains in the Fire Department, effective September 1st, at a salary of $325.00 per month. FRATTI RADIO S~RVICE: Communication was received from Frank Fratti advising that the rsdio maintenance and service charge would be $103.00 per month effective as of September l, 1951. Motion was made by Councilman F~der, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the charge as submitted by Frank Fratti be approved and payment made accordingly. SAN BRUNO RADIO CHARGE: Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, that the City of San Bruno be advised that they would be charged $100.00 per month for Police, Fire and Pound radio service, effective as of September 1st. BREN~JOOD BOP~ TAV-~RN: Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the Brentwood Bowl be granted license for a tavern. COMMUNITY CHEST: Communication was received from the Community Chest of San Mateo County request- ing permission to paint sidewalks at intersections to advertise the Community Chest, non- permanent stencils to be used. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councihan Brscco and regularly carried, that the Community Chest be granted permission to stencil sidewalks as requested in their letter of Aug- ust 16th. WINDBREAKERS DANCE: Communication was received from Bill Ringue requesting permission for the Wind- breakers Club to hold a dance at the Windbreakers Hall September 1st. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the Windbreakers be ~ranted permission to hold a dance September 1st. PA~&DISE VALLEY DITCH: A letter from the Paradise Valley Improvement Association addressed to the Health Department, with reference to ditch adjoining the Martin Elementary School, was read. This matter had been discussed previously and the City Clerk wss instructed to advise the Paradise Valley Improvement Association that this matter has been brought to the attention of the Health Department and thatthe city was filling this ditch at the present time and would continue to do so. CALIFORNIA GOLF CLUB: Communication addressed to the City Manager was received from the California Golf Club with reference to fire protection. After some discussion, motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, that a letter be sent to the California Golf Club advising thatthe City Council would meet with their Board of Directors at the clubs convenience. 50 MADRONE AVENUE: CITY MANAGER LEAVE OF ABSENCE: ADJOURNMENT: Councilman Boido expressed the opinion that something should be done with Madrone Avenue. This matter had been brought up before but nothing could be done as Mr. Whelen was against it. After some discussion, Councilman Elder stated he would con- tact Mr. Whelen. City Manager Larwood requested permission to attend the International City P~nagers Convention at Poland Sprin.~s, Maine, and to take his vacation. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that City Manager Larwood be granted permission to leave the state on vacation and to attend the International City Manager's Convention with expense allowance not to exceed $150.oo. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to Tuesday, September Ath at 8 p. m.
