Elder The meeting was called to order at 8 p. m. by Mayor Sani. City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all coun- cilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted. A. W. Baumbeing the lowest bidder for the construction of a multiple box culvert in Spruce Avenue, Councilman Bracco introduced a resolution awarding the contract for this work to Arthur W. Baum. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. Communication was received from the Works Engineer recommending the approval of a change order at the sewage treatment plant to provide for constructing a sewer from the existing San Francisco Bridge Company sewer to the sewage plant at a cost of $7~5.3&. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Works Engineer be accepted. Communication was received from the Works Engineer submitting for consideration the final map of Winston Manor No. 2-A. As this map had not been acted upon by the Planning Commission, the matter was laid over. Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni advising that Officer Marlo Blandini had returned to work Auguwt 20, 1951. This communication was ordered filed. Co~nunication was received from the Planning Commission recommending that the por- tion of highway between ~unipero Serra Boulevard and E1 Camino Real be named Hickey Boulevard in honor of Supervisor Tom Hickey. This matter was referred to the City Attorney for the necessary resolution. Resolution was received from the Planning Commission recommending.the amending of the Street and Highway Plan, with reference to the extension of San Bruno Road. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission he accepted and this matter be referred to the City Attorney for the necessary ordinance. Resolution was received from the Planning Commission recommending the amending of Sections 7, 10 and 11 of the Zoning Ordinance. Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and this matter be referred to the City Attorney for the necessary ordinance. Motion was made by Councilman Boido, seconded by Councilman Bracco, and regularly carried, that the resignation of the City Manager be accepted, effective Nov. 1, 1951. Communication was r~ceive~ from the Santa Cristo Society inviting all city offi- cials and employees to their celebration to be held Sunday, Sept. 23, 1951. Mayor Sani asked the city officials to take note and ordered the communication filed. Communication was received from the Business Men's Association requesting per- mission to hold a kiddies parade October 13, 1951 and kiddies rides on October llth to l~th inclusive. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Coun- cilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the Business Men's Association be granted permission to hold parade and rides as requested. Communication was received from James Balopulos of the Peninsula Auto Supply Co. requesting permission to stage a bicycle race on the morning of Sept. 23, 1951. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that permission be granted for a bicycle race providing time of the race meets with the approval of the Police Department. Communication was received from the Brentwood Club requesting information with reference to the playground equipment for that area. Mr. B~lJan, Superintendent of Recreation, advised that 85% of the equipment was here and would be installed by the Superintendent of Streets as soon as the playground area was ready. Communication was received from the West Coast Advertising Co. requesting per- mission to place a sign on the Olmo property at the corner of Lindem a~ Railroa? Avenues. This matter was referred to the Planning Commission. ~?~'-,~,~-~?'~'-~,~ Report was received from the San Mateo County Industrial Development Commission. This report was ordered filed. Application was submitted by M. Tapella for a business license for women's apparel at 805 Linden Avenue. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Council- man Boido and regularly carried, that license be granted. Communication was received from the Citizen's Committee advising that it would be ready to make report at the second council meetim~ in September and urging that no appointment of City Manager be made until this report is filed and con- sidered. Mayor Sani stated that the Council had no thought in mind of making such an appointment until report was received from the Citizen's Committee. Communication was ordered filed. Communication was received from the California National Guard Reserve asking that the city do something toward forming a National (Mard Unit. The Mayor stated he would like a little publicity on this matter so that any interested parties could sign up, and suggested that the matter be referred to the American Legicm. Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, Claims in the amount of $17,578.79 were approved by the Finance Committee. On motion duly made, seconded, and regularly carried, claims as submitted were order- ed paid. Councilman Buido introduced a resolution setting the tax rate at $1.7& per $100 of valuation for the fiscal year 1951-1952. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution adopting the specifications for reroofing the City Hall. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. Councilman Bracco introduced a resolution ordering the rereofing of the City Hall. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council pres ent. Councilman Boido introduced a resolution ordering the vacation of right of way or easement for sewers for drainage and sanitary purposes. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. Counci!m~n Cortesi introduced a resolution authorizing the city attorney to pre- pare and file a complaint for condemnation proceedings covering strips of land in Country Club Park. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. As the term of Victor Robinson as member of the Planning Commission had expired August 1, 1951, Mayor Sani submitted his name for reappointment. Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the reappointment of Victor Robinson to the Planning C~m~ission, as submitted by Mayor Sani, be confirmed. Mrs. Hernan was present and asked what happend to the road from Southwood to the new school. She stated City Manager Larwced informed her that the road would not be finished but that he would contact Mr. Cherry and arrange for buses to take care of the children on opening school day. Councilman Cortesi advised that he had called County Engineer Grant, who stated this matter was in the hands of Mr. Larwood, but that he would come up and see what could be done toward providing this read. Works Engineer Randlett stated he would contact County Engineer Grant first thing tomorrow and find out the' status of this read. *that this matter be referred to the American Legion. Bi~DOD SIGNALS.. ADJOUI~]~T: Mr. Stuller was present and asked when the traffic signals would be installed in the Brentwood section. Mayor Sani informed him that meeting was held with State Highway Div. representative and the State was proceeding with all arrangements. Another meeting would be held September llth. On motion of Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to September 11, 1951 at &:30 p. m. Time of Adjournment - 9:05 p. m.
