Elder, Adolph Sani, Joseph Bracco, Emilio Cortesi None The meeting was called to order at 8 p. m. by Mayor Sani. City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting of Sept. 24, 1951 to all councilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted. Communication was received from Fire Chief Welte stating that he was in need of new equipment and recommended the purchase of a 1000 G.P.M. pumper. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Fire Chief be accepted and this matter be referred to the City Managerwith a view to the purchase of a new pumper. Communication was received from the Planning Commission advising that the Inter- national Lead Co. had been given thirty days within which to correct the condition of sparks and odors coming from their plant. This communication was ordered filed. Resolutions were received from the Planning Commission recommending the granting of use permits to Standard Oil Co., Associated Oil Co., John P. O'Looney and Albert B. Doyle, Jr. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendations of the Planning Commission be accepted. Resolutions were received from the Planning Commission recommending the granting of variance permits to the State Building Corp., Arthur J. Patrick and Robert E. Martin. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the recommendations of the Planning Commission be accepted. Communication was received from the South San Francisco Unified School District asking if it would be possible for the city to furnish two girl street signs for placement in the road on each side of the Avalon School. The City Attorney ad- vised that as this was outside of the city limits, the city could not comply with the request. Therefore, motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Counci]m~n Boido and regularly carried, that the school district be so notified. Memorandum of agreement was received from the Division of Highways covering expenditure of gas tax allocation formajor city streets for the fiscal year 1952. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that this agreement be read by Works Engineer Randlett. Following the reading, Councilman Bracco introduced a resolution accepting this agreement. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council. Communication was received from Chief of Police Belloni advising that Allen Klemme had commenced duties as a Police Officer October 1st, 1951 at $280.00 per month. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the appointment of Allen Klemme be confirmed. Communication was received from Mrs. Annette Haidos requesting permission to hold their annual Tag Day in this city on October 27th. Motion was made by Coun- cilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried,that permission be granted. Claims in the amount of $12,971.&8 were submitted by the Finance Committee. On motion duly made, seconded and regularly carried, claims as submitted were order- ed paid. Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution ordering a change and modificatien in proceedings under Resolution of Intention No. 1666. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members oT the council. Petition for abandonment of certain streets and easements in Winston Manor No. 2 was received from the Stoneson Development Corp. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that this petition be referred to the Planning Commission. As there were not enough men on the police and fire eligible lists to fill the present vacancies, motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the Personnel Board be requested to call for examinations for Firemen and Police Officers. Mr. Berry, a resident of the Avalon Park area, asked if it would not be possible to put a street through to the Avalon School. The works Engineer advised that Conmur Street could be extended and improved, provided the property owners were willing to pay for the work. Mr. Berry stated he would endeavor to get the property owners to sign a petition for ~his work. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by CounciLman Boido and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to OCtober 15, 1951 at 8 p. m. Time of Adjournment - 8:&O p. m.
