Elder, Adolph Sani, Joseph Bracco, Rmtlio Cortest None The meeting was called to order at 8 p. m. by Mayor Sani. City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting of January 21, 1952 to all councilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted. Communication was received from Fire Chief Welte advising that Fireman Jesse Garrett was confined to the hospital due to a wrist injury, suffered while on duty. This communication was ordered filed. Communicationwas received from Fire Chief Welte advising that Fireman Don Barnes had completed his year probationary period as of Feb. 1st, and recommended he be appointed as a regular fireman with the second year salary of $295.00 per month. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Fire Chief be accepted and Don Barnes be appointed fireman with the second years salary. Communication was received from City Manager McClung advising that in the near futnre the Ctty Poundwill be located at the newly completed Sewage Disposal Plant. This co~nunicatton was ordered filed. Communication was received from CityManager McClung recommending that the Per- sonnel Board be requested to call for examination for Clerk-Typist. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that the Personnel Board be notified to call for examination for Clerk-Typist. Communication was received from the Recreation Commission advising that Mr. Frank Eseriniwas elected Chairman, Mrs. Ethel Hernan Vice-Chairman, andMrs. Sellick to continue as Secretary for the year 1952. This communication was ordered filed. Communication was received from the Recreation Commission recommending that John O'Learybe appointed as a recreation director, effective Feb. l, 1952 at $1.10 per hour. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Recreation Commission be accepted. Communication was received from the Recreation Commission recommending that Anthony BulJan, William Muzio and Glen Smith be authorized to attend the annual State Recreation Conference Feb. 19th to 22nd, 1952, with an expense allowance not to exceed $85.00 each. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Recreation Con~a!sston, regarding delegates to conference, be accepted. Communication was received from the Building Service Employees' Union with ref- erence to Park and Street Employees. Th~scommunication was referred to the Committee on Street and Park Employees. Communication was received from Hannaford & Talbot advising that the city's share of the cost of improvements in Hillside Boulevard Assessment District was $2,042.62 and that same is now due and payable. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried, that claim be paid. Communication was received from the Business Men's Association thanking the city for having furnished the lights during the Christmas Season. This communication was ordered filed. Co~m~unication was received from Kenneth Brandi requesting a three months leave of absence due to sinus condition suffered by Mrs. Brandi~ Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that request be granted. Communication was received from the South San Francisco Woman's Club requesting that if the City Council contemplated making any changes in the present ordinances, regarding size of lots, that it be submitted to a vote of the people. This communication was ordered filed. The matter of amending the Zoning Ordinance, regarding changing of lot sizes, came up for hearing. Letter from the Planning Commission was read recommending against amending 0rdiuances ~269 and ~297, and that minimum lot area be kept at 5000square feet. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Council- man Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and that the minimum lot area required be kept at 5000 s~uare feet with a minimum 50 foot width. Claims in the amount of $18678.53 were submitted by the Finance Committee. On motion duly made, seconded and regularly carried, claims as submitted were order- ed paid. JUNIPER AVENUE ONE-WAY STREET ORDINANCE: RESOLUTION NO. 1740 APPROVING AGREEMENT GAS TAX ALLOCATIONS: RESOLUTION NO. 17kl ACCEPTING DEED LAND CO: NEW OFFICERS RECREATION COMMISSION: An ordinance making Juniper Avenue a one-way street was introduced and read in its entirety as the first reading. Councilman Elder introduced a resolution adopting budget and approving First Supplemental Memorandum of Agreement for expenditure of gas tax allocation for Major City Streets. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council. Councilman Boido introduced a resolution accepting deed from South San Francisco Land and Improvement Co. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council. The City Clerk was instructed to send a letter of commendation to the outgoing officers of the Recreation Coz~nis~ion. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, the meeting was adjaurned to Feb. 18, 1952 at 8 p. m.
