Absent: Councilman Emilio Cortesi
The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p. m. by Mayor Sani.
City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting of
March 3, 1952 to all councilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any errors or
omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted.
Ordinance repealing Ordinance ~5t came up for second reading. Motion was made
by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that
this ordinance be read by title only as the second reading. City Clerk then
read title of ordinance: "AN ORDINANCE REPEJtLING ORDINANCE NO. 51 OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARIES AND COMPEN-
SATION OF THE TREASURER, CLERK, MARSHAT,T, AI~ RECORDER OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 8 OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO,
PASSED ON THE 14THDAY OF DECEMBER, 1908, AND ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE FIXING
THE SALARIES AND COMPENSATION OF THE TREASURER, CLERK, MARSHALL AND RECORDER
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO." This ordinance was adopted by the follow-
ing vote: Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani,
Joseph Bracco; Noes, Councilmen, None; Absent, Councilman Emilio Cortesi.
An ordinance fixing the salary of the Treasurer of the City was read in its
entirety as the second reading. This ordinance was adopted by the following
vote: Ayes, Councilman Victor Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani, Joseph
Bracco; Noes~ Councilmen, Nones Absent, Councilman Emilio Cortesi.

ORDINANCE NO. 327:
Claim for damages against the city in the amount of $10~000.00 was filed for account
of Leroy A. Bose, Elmer H. Bose and Ada V. Bose. The City Attorney advised that
this claim be denied. Motion was made by Councilman Bracco, seconded by Councilman
Elder and regularly carried, that the claim of Bose, et al~ be denied.
Claim in the amount of $4,000.00 was filed against the city and Arthur W. Baum
by the San Francisco Drive-In Theatres Corp. for damage by flood to their property.
The City Attorney advised that this claim be denied. Motion was made by Councilman
Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that claim of the San
Francisco Drive In Theatres Corp. be denied.
Communication was received from Thomas Needham requesting permission for the Juni-
pero Serra Post No. 7216, Veterans of Foreign Wars, to hold a Carnival and Field Day
during the three day Labor Day Weekend, at the City Park. Motion was made by
Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried~ that this
matter be referred to the Recreation Commission for their consideration and advising
that the city council was iu favor of same.
Communication was received from Fire Chief Welte recommending that salary of Assis-
tant Chief J. Marchi be increased to $360.00 per month effective March 1st, in
accordance with Ordinance No. 324. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded
by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that recommendation of the Fire Chief be
accepted and Assistant Chief Marchi be increased to $360.00 per month effective
March 1st.
As there was a word left out in Ordinance No. 327, motion was made by Councilman
Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and reg%~arly carried, that this ordinance be
reconsidered.
Motion was made by Councilman Boido, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly
carried, that the City Clerk be instructed to insert the word "effect" after the
word "take" in Section 2 of 0rdiuance ~327.
~The roll call vote on Ordinance No. 327 was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Victor
Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani, Joseph Bracco; Noes, Councilman, None; Absent,
Councilman Emilio Cortesi.
On motion of Councilman Elder~ seconded by Councilman Bracco and regularly carried,
the meeting was adjourned to March 17, 1952 at 8 p. m.
