The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p. m. by Mayor Cortesi.
Present: Councilmen John Noonan, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Telford Smith
Absent: Councilman Joseph Bracco
The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with and held over to the next reg-
ular meeting.
Communication was received from the office of the Building Inspector requesting approval
to attend the BOth Annual business meeting of the Pacific Coast Building Officials
Conference iu Spokane, Washington and approval to leave the state during the two weeks
vacation period plus accumulated vacation time of two weeks. City Mauager McCluug ex-
plained the conversation he had with Mr. Rozzi and his not having taken two weeks
vacation period for the last year. Councilman Sani moved, that vacation be granted
and Mr. Rozzi be allowed to attend the conference with expense of $150.00 limit to be
allowed. Councilman Smith mentioned that the expense could not be delegated ou all
conventions as some may be farther away than others and may be over the $150.00 allowed.
Councilman Noonan seconded the motion of Councilman Saul which was regularly carried.
Communication was received fr°m'~the Stonesou Development Corporation relative to the
access road to be provided for Winston Manor ~3- Councilman Smith asked if Stonesou
Development Corporation had contacted the School authorities and the Fire Chief. The
representative of Stonesou Development Corporation reported that this matter had been
taken up with the School authorities and the Fire Chief. He also stated that the
easement was not shown on the original map but is shown on the final map. Councilman
Smith asked City Attorney Lyons if the letter was binding to which he replied that it
was provided the measurements are o.k. The map could be accepted on the strength of
the letter. Councilman Smith asked Mr. Stonesou if he were qualified to answer for
the compauy with regard to the discussion regarding the right of way. Mr. Stouesou
reported that he was qualified to answer for the company. Councilman Smith moved,
seconded by Councilman Sani and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the
Planning Commission in its final form be accepted and that it be subject to receiving
a letter from the Stouesou Development Corporation setting aside lots 9 and l0 in
block 35 for playground area, and to show lot 7 and easement in block 34 for accept-
ance by the school authorities. The City Manager also be instructed to advise by
letter.
City Attorney Lyons brought up the matter of the ordinance to amend Ordinance ~297 by
subsection numbered 4.46. Councilman Noouan asked if it were not necessary for this
to go before the Planning Commission. City Attorney Lyons stated that it was not
necessary to go before them. CounciLman Sani requested City Attorney Lyons to check
with the League of California Cities relalive to this. Councilman Sani moved, sec-
ouded by Councilman Noonau that the reading of the ordinance be waived and that it
be introduced by title only. Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen John
Noonan, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi and Telford Smith; Noes, none; Absent, Councilman
Joseph Bracco.
Councilman Sani introduced a resolution ordering the work for improvement of Third
Lane from Eucalyptus to a point 58' west of Laurel and directing the work to be done
under the direction of the Works Engineer. Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes,
Councilman John Noouan, Adolph Saul, Emilio Cortesi, Telford Smith; Noes, None;
Absent, Councilman Joseph Bracco.
Councilman Smith brought up the matter of the Metalbestos flue pending from the last
meeting. He stated he felt he was no judge of what type of flue was to be used.
Councilman Sani stated he did not see why it should not be taken care of tonight, that
the recommendation of the Fire Chief and Building Inspector was explanitory. Council-
man Sani moved~ seconded by Councilman Smith and regularly carried, that the recom-
mendation of the Fire Chief and Building Inspector be accepted.
Councilman Saul moved, seconded by Councilman S~ith and regularly carried, that the
meeting be adjourned to August 18, 1952 at 8 p. m.
