The =eeting was called to order at 8:04 p.m. by Mayor Smith

Pledge of Allegiance was recited, after which invocation was given by
Rev. E. J. Haanstaad of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.

MINUTES:
Mayor Smith asked if there were any errors or corrections to the minutes
of previous meettnw~ of September 6 and ~9, 1955. Councilman Gamlen
moved, seconded try Councilman Lucchio and regularly carried that the minutes
of S~ptember 6 and 19, 1955 be approved.

carried that the claims as sulmitted by approved for payment. Total

PUBLIC HEARINGS:
At tkis time Mayor Smith opened the publLc hearing an So. Canal and So.
Mayf~ir Avenues improvement. He a~ked if any written protests had been
received to which the City Clerk replied that one (1) written protest
had been received. Councilman Rocca then moved, seconded by Councilman
Gamlen and regularly carried that the he~rin~s be continued until October
10, 2955 at 4:30 p.m.
Mayor Smith then stated that the next hearing concerned the Airport
Bou].evard industrial tract. He asked if any written protests had been
recekved to which the City Clerk replied that none had been received.
He tLen asked if there were any verbal protests. None were registered.
At tLt~ time Mayor Smith asked City Attorney Lyons if it was his recom-
menm~tion that this matter be continued to which he replied that Such
a r~uest had been received that it also be c~ntinued until next Monday.
Cou~ilman Gamlen then moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly
carried that the protest hearing on Airport ~oulevard Ine~dstrial Tract
be continued until 4:30 p.m. October 10, 1955.

At ~is time City Attorney Lyons remarked that the resolution concerning
So. Canal and So. Mayfiar Avenues as well as Airport ~oulevard Industrial
Trac= should be continued inasmuch as tbs hearings were not concluded.
Fur;~er statin~ that no further action could be taken in the matter Mayor
Smi=h remarked that if there are no objmetions the two resolutions would
be cem~idered at the October 10, 1955 meeting. No objections were re~istered
City Attorney Lyons remarked that item ~o. 3 under resolutions listed the
offLctal map of Crestview Terrace but t~at it really referred to Puck's
Heights Subdivision No. 4. He stated t~at it had been submitted and approved
by :he Director of Public Works and therefore he was recommendtn~ that it
be ~dopted on the basis of his recommen~ation. Director of Public Works
Gos~ said that it should be approved subject to the signin~ of the contract
and zhe po~ting of the bond. Councilman Rocca then moved, seconded by
Couacilman Lucchio and regularly carriea that the map be accepted according
to ~e t~rms and a~resments as emamera~ed by the City Attorney.

IMPROVEMENT OF MISSION
ROAD AND CHESTNUT AVE.:
Cl~y Attorney Lyons at this time explained that the Engineer's office
made a final check of the Mission Road and Chestnut Avenue improvements
and found that they were just short of the required 60% of the area
necessary. He therefore recommended tbs adoption of a resolution which
he ~tad prepared which authorized the Mayor and City Clerk t-o sign a waiver
on ~ehalf of the City whereby the City ioins with the other property owners
in ,miving the proVision~, of the mp~[lm~ ~ investigation. He further
ex, lined that on the sigr~ng of the petition that the signing would be
re~rded as having the same effect as those signatures placed on the
pe~xtton Prior to August 1955. Council~nan Rocca then introduced "A

Mr. Smith then stated that the next item for council con~iderag~n con-
cerned the second reading of the ordinmnce regarding debris being placed
in the storm sewage system of the city. City Attorney Lyons remarked
tha= a motion could, be made-waiving the ~eadLng of the ordinamce and
in:roducing it by title only. Councilaan Gamlen ~o moved, seconded by
Comncilman Lucchio and it was regularl~ carried. At this t~me City

understanding that~all of the lnformatkon had not as yet been presented
and the matter should be held over. A~ter a brief discum~ion Mayor Smith
st, ted that if there were no objection~ tilts matter would be placed on
the agenda for Thursday evening October 6'pwtOw to the bearing on the
Ma:zanti rezoning.

PURCHASE CITY OWNED

Ma~or Smith stated that a request had been received from Mr. O. D. Hamlin
to ~urchase city owned land in the vic~nity of property Mr. llamlin owns
in the Wip~ton Manor Shopping District. After brief discussion Councilman
P~cca moved, seconded by Councilman Gm len that the city declare this
property as surplus property and call flor bids f~r the sale of both parcels
of property which are opposite each oiler and'that they be considered as
one sale. After a brief discussion Ma~-or Smith stated that if it was in
order he moved that the motion be tabled, Counctlmmn Lucchio seconded the
motion which was regularly carried. Councilman Rocca then moved, seconded
by ~ouncilman Gamlen and regularly carried that this property be declared
surplus to the city and that the City Ila~awer'and the City Attorney
ne~otiate with the party who has indic~ted his willingnemm to purchase
it ~nd present before~the council ~he bemt bid, either fr~m this indivi-
du,-.1-or otherwise on both parcels of 1-~d so it can be sold as a unit.

Co'aaunication dated September 20, 1955 was received from the Lowrie
PaMngi Company requesting permission to grade a parcel of land owned by

OPERATION OF HAULING
TRUCKS LO'MA LINDA
S USOIVISION:
The following reports were received fro~ the office of the City Manager
who explained them at thereq~est of ~ayor Smith. The first taken up
con.'er~ed the operation of hauling truc2m fro~ the Loma Linda sebdivision.
City Manager McClung explained the lett,rs received concerning this
matter and the investigation eon&acted ~y the Police Captain. This was
done in conjunction with letters received frma i/rs. Lillian Csstellano,

again brought up the matter of debris filled lots on Airport Blvd. and

~ayor Smith remarked that if-there were ~ objections the City Manager

Roy ~hllard/ remarked on the u~e permit of Mr. Mac F&rland stating that a
reqtt~t had been ~ade to move a 10 x 30 ft. wo~en frame structure from
San Francisco into the City Li~tts. ~ayar h/th stated that this had been
cove_-ed in the use permit.
