CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Rossi at 8:05 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen O. J. Rozzi, hills Cortesi, Francis Lucchio and Leo J. Ryan.
Absent: Council~an Andrew Rocca.
Mayor Rozzi remarked that Councilman Rocca had another important meeting to attend and
that he might be in attendance at the meeting later.

PROBLEM:
In openin~ the public hearing for the off-street Parking District, Mayor Rozzi stated
that he had spoken to Mr. 8ca~pini, attorney for the District, requesting permission t
allow those present in the audience concerned with the Jet planes to complete their
discussion which was carried'over from the previous meeting. He then explained to the
members of the audience concerned with the jet problem that this meeting had been pris
ily set aside for the Downtown Parking District, but that a short time would be alloca
to them in order to complete their discussion. Mr. Ron Myers spoke briefly concerning
the subject matter, readin~ a list of questions he wished to obtain answers on. At th
request of Mayor P~zzi, Mr. Myers stated he would supply the ~ayor with the list of
these questions which he was reading. After brief discussion, Hayer Rozzi appointed
the following on a comittee to work on the problem of jet planes:
Don Delaney, Planning Comissioner
John Breed, Planning Conimsioner
M. Skulsky, from the City Park Improvement Club
Mayor Rozzi then announced that he would turn over to DOn Delaney all the infor~ation
had on the subject, requesting that whenever the conittee met, representatives from t
citizens who spoke on the subject matter be contacted so that they could be present at
whatever meetings were held. Mr. Myers re~rked that he and Mr.Gerrow would like to se
as members of this coRittee. ~ayor Rozzi stated that the coRlttee might be expanded
later but that, however, meetings would be held within the week.
PUBLIC HEARING Proceeding on to the ~atter of the formation of Parking District No. 1 of the City of
PARKING South San Francisco, ~ayor Rozzi asked if any written protests had been received. Cit

After the reading of the protests, Mayor Rossi asked concerning oral protests. Discus
sion followed by the City Attorney, John Noonan; members of the Council, and Mr. ScamF
counsel for the Downtown Parking District. Discussion also took place concerning the
District and the methods by which it could be altered, changed, etc. At this time, Mz
Sca~pini gave an explanation from the map of the areas which were being considered as
parking lots and public ways, also the costs of the projects involved and the cities J
the immediate vicinity which had already completed such parking projects. After com-
pleting his explanation, Mayor Rozzi asked if anyone in the audience wished to speak ¢
the subject ~atter. The following persons spoke:
George Kiessling, protesting in behalf of his mother.
Silvio Nieri, speaking in favor of off-street parking.
Chick Swett, requesting consideration of his business, since the location in which he
was established was being considered for a public way.
Adolph Sani, protesting the Parkin~ District.
Victor Boido, favoring the for~ation of the Parking District.
Ernest Rozzi, protesting the Downtown Parkin~ District.
B. J. Rodondi, favoring for~ation of the Parking District.
Rudy Santini, favoring for~ation of the Parking District.
Marc Senaldi, favoring for~tion of the Parking District.
Thomas Kay, favoring

RECESS:
Mayor Rozzi declared a recess at 9:45 p.m. The meeting vas recalled to order at 9:57
p.m. Further discussion took place between members of the Council and members of the
audience, speaking both in favor of and in opposit~on to the Parking District.
After discu~sion Councilman Lucchio moved that the City-owned parking lots as shown sE
Parking District No. 1 located on Miller Avenue be converted into one hour free parkiE
areas for the convenience of shoppers, that the Chief of Police be instructed to enfol
the parking limitations, that the City Attorney prepare the proper ordinance if one is
not in effect concerning parking restrictions, and that the Acting Supt. of Streets,
Dave Corsiglia, post the necessary signs. ~ayor Rozzi remarked that the motion be mo¢
lied to include that this was only fo r a~ loq as necessary. Brief discussion fol-
lowed, after which no second to the motion was made. The motion therefore died for If
of a second. Councilman Ryan then asked if there were any other cements from the
audience. None were ~ade.
ADJOURMMENT:
Further discussion took place, after which it vas decided that the meeting would be cc
tinued until the following day after the first regular meeting of June. Council~an RI
moved, seconded by Counci~n Lucchio and regularly carried, that the public hearing
continued to the evening of Tuesday, June 4, 1957, at 8 p.m. There being no further
