C, WELLER: INDUSTRIAL VILLAGE HOUSING: LINDENVILLE OPERATIONS AS EXPLAINED BY ATTORNEY LYON8: RESOLUTION #2487 ACCEPTANCE OF CHECK, PROVISION FOR EXECUTION OF, RECEIPT & RELEASE: CHECK ACCEPTANCE: HOUSING COMMISSIONER COMMENDATIONS: SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD FRIDAY, MAY 24, 1957 Council Chambers, City Hall 4p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Rozzi at 4:15 p.m. Present: Councilmen Andrew Rocca, Leo Ryan, Emtllo Cortesi and Mayor Rozzi Absent: Councilman Francis Lucchio. The meeting having specifically been called for the acceptance of final pa~ from the Housing Authority of the City, Mayor Rozzi called on the chairman the Housing Authority for a few remarks. Mr. G. Carl Weller, Chairman, gave a brief background and history of the Hot Authority since its organization some 17 years ago. He individually intro~ the commissioners as well as all of the employees, giving a brief personal history of each and the part they played in the organization. Mr. Weller likewise explained that although Lindenvllle ceased to exist, lo~ family housing was to be carried on in Industrial Village, with Mrs. Bennett be in charge as Executive Director and Secretary, commencing the following ~ He further thanked the commissioners and employees for, their help. Mr. Well then called on Richard Lyons, legal counsel for the Housing Authority. Mr. Lyons remarked that although Mr. Weller provided the City Council with t statistical history, he did not say that he (Mr. Weller) was the or/ginal chairman of the Commission and had continued in such a capacity until today. Mr. Lyons went on to explain the method under which Lindenvllle operated, th previous returns made to the City, as well as expenses paid. He further ex- plained the audit as made by Mr. Ledwith which showed all accounts in perfec order and that the Housing Authority, through its chairman, was prepared to present a check to the City in the amount of $140,639.06. He requested that the Council adopt a resolution which had been prepared approving the audit a receiving the check, almo the authorized signature of a release. At this ti Mr. Lyons read Resolution 333, passed and adopted by the Housing Authority dated May 21, 1957, concerning the subject matter. City Clerk Rodondi then read in full the resolution which was to be adopted ' the City Council. After it had been read, Councilman Ryan introduced a "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO PROVIDING FOR ACCEPTANCE OF FINAL PAYMENT FROM HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO WITH RESPECT TO THE bATTER'S OPERATION OF THE LINDENVILLE HOUSi PROJECT, AND PROVIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF A RECEIPT AND A FULL AND COMPLET] RELEASE." Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Andrew Rocca, Leo Ryan, Emilio Cortesi and G. J. Rozzi. Noes, None. Absent, Councilman Francis Lucchio. Mayor Rozzi at this time accepted from Mr. Weller the check for $140,639.06. Mayor Rozzi then asked if any of the Councilmen had any comments they wished to make. Councilman Cortesi commended the Commissioners for the work put forth over the years. Councilman Rocca commented that the commissioners put a lot of time and effort and commended them for their work, extending his coz gratulations and thanks. Councilman Ryafl extended his thanks, remarking that the returns were a tribute to the diligence of the commissioners and the dut3 performed. Mayor Rozzi stated that on behalf of the City, he extended to the commissioners a warm thank you. He also remarked that the body should have more recognition for the wonderful work done and duties performed. Councilma Cortesimtd that in order for the City to show its appreciation, he suggested that in the very near future a dinner be given for the commissioners and employees of the Housing Authority. Councilman Cortesi so moved. Councilman ~BR~IFICATES OF MERIT FOR HOUSING CO~- ~I SSIONERS: SEPARATE FUND FOR DEPOSIT Rocca seconded the motion, after which Mayor Rozzi suggested that the motion be amended to include that certificates of m~rit also be issued to the conmis- s[onem Councilman Cortesi accepted the amench~ent as part of his motion. Coun- cilman Rocca seconded the amendment, after which the motion as made, seconded and amendec, was regularly carried. ~ayor Ro~zi requested the City Attorney to prepa]'e the necessary resolution for the issuance of certificates. CouncilmLn Cortesi then moved that the check received be placed in a separate fund for =ecreationa! purposes. Rayor Rozzi suggested that any decision for use of the monies received be withheld until the full Council could meet to make a decision. Brief discussion took place, after which Councilman Cortesi moved that the cLeck be placed in a separate fund f~r special purpose use. Councilman Ryan seconded the motion, which was regularly carried. The members of the Housing Commission then expressed their thanks to the members of the Council for their support. There being no further business, Rayor Rozzi adjourned the meeting until Monday, June 3, 1957, at 8 p.m. Time of a dj ournment: 5: 02 p.m. RESPECTFULLY SUBNITTED, city Clerk
