HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1958-07-14ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD MONDAY, JULY 14, 1958 TI ME: PLACE: 7:30 Counc"L Chambers, City Hall CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:36 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Andrew Rocca, Emilio Cortesi, Leo J. Ryan and Patrick E. Ahern RESOLUTION NO. 2665 REMOVAL OF WEEDS The first item for Council attention concerned the resolution on the removal of weeds within the city which was explained by the City Attorney, who then remarked that to be added to this resolution was the lot in Serra Highlands as weLL, which was creating a public nuisance. After explanation, Councilman Rocca ~ntroduced: "A RESOLUTION TO REMOVE WEEDS (RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCI OF TH2 CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DECLARING WEEDS UPON STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND VACANT AND UNIMPROVED PROPERTY TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE AND FIXING THE TIME FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND ORDER ABATING SAID NUISANCE)". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilman G. J. Rozzi, Andrew Rocca, Emilio Cortesi, Leo j. Ryan and Patrick E. Ahem. RESOLUTION NO. 2666 URGING SUPPORT TO SENDING BURLI NGAME HIGH SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA TO WORLD'S FAIR AT BRUSSELS: LIBRARY CLAIM FOR CONFERENCE EXPENSES: ~0/,~ City Attorney Noonan then explained the resolution prepared urging public support to sending the Burlingame High School String Orchestra to the World's Fair at Brussels. After explanation by the City Attorney, Councilman Ryan introduced: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRAN- CISCO URGING PUBLIC SUPPORT TO SENDING TKE BURLINGAME HIGH SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA TO THE WORLD'S FAIR AT BRUSSELS". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Andrew Rocca, Emilio Cortesi, Leo J. Ryan and Patrick E. Ahem. Claim was received from Lauretta Hussar, Librarian, in the amount of $100.00, to cover expenses for three library trustees and four librarians to attend the Ansrican Library Association Conferen:e in San Francisco July 13 to 19, 1958. Councilman Rocca moved, seconded by Councilman Ahem and regularly car- ried, that the claim as submitted be apprmved for payment. MAGNOLIA AVENUE SCHOOL AGREEMENT: Inter office memorandum dated July 10, 1958, was received from the Recreation Commission, requesting information on the status of the Magnolia Avenue School buil¢ing and also a copy of the agreement with the School District which gover~idthe use. Mayor Rozzi remarked that if there were no objections, no Counc:l action would be taken and the Citf Manager would be instructed to send a copy of the agreement by mail to tae Recreation Commission, No objec- tions were registered. INDUSTRIAL PARK HIT #2-A $1,700 DEPOSIT FOR POSSIBLE LOWERING OF INLET TO PUMPING STATION #4: Communication dated July 10, 1958, was received from the Utah Construction Compary over the s~ure of William Rus, requesting modification of the terms ~pon the geletion of a previous requirement of depositing $1,700.00 for possible future lo~rtag of the inlet to pumping station #4 in South San Francisco Industrial Park Unit #2-A. City Attorney Noonan remarked that this ,atter could be continued to the nex: regular meeting of July 21, 1958. Mayor Rozzi remarked that if there were no objections, it would be so ordered. No objections were registered. MR. VAN CROWELL COMPLAINT- - PARK AVENUE HEIGHTS: City Attorney Noonan then explained the physical inspection he made on the Van Crowe11 lot in Park Avenue Heights, Mr. Van Crowe11 having registered a complaint concerning a retaining wall which had fallen onto his property from his neighbor.. City Attorney Noonan remarked that there did not appear to be any ~anger to life since this structure was lying flat on the ground. He further remarked that he had requested the Building Department to make an inspection with a full report to be submitted to the Council. BAUER-LESSER COMPANY CONTRACT FOR REPAIRS IN BURl BUR1 #3: Counciluan Ryan then asked City Attorney Noonan as to the status of the Bauer- Lesser uatter in Bury BurY #3, to which he replied that the contract had been mailed to the Bauer-Lesser firm with the request that they elect the method by which they wished the repairs made, the election to be done by July 24, 1958. He further remarked that they were awaiting the return of the contract. CALLAN CITATION - Councilman Ryan then asked City Attorney Noonan as to the status of the Callan PARK AVENUE HEIGHTS: Development Company matter in Park Avenue Heights. City Attorney Noonan y stated that Mr. Callan was cited Friday u~der the section of the Building Code ~/~ and that the Building Inspector had demanded that Mr. Callan expose sections of the wall for inspection. ADJOURNMENT: There being nothing further, Councilman Rocca moved, seconded by Councilman Ahem a~d regularly carried, that the meeting be adjourned to July 21, 1958.
