The meettmW was called to order by Mayor Rocca at 8:05 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited, after which roll call was
taken.

Mayor Rocca at this time stated that the following were to be appointed to
serve in the canvassing of the absentee ballots:

RESULTS
RESOLUTION NO. 2999:
The absentee ballots were opened and tallied, after which City Attorney
Noonan explained the resolution which had been prepared concerning the
matter. Councilman Ahern then introduced: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNC!
OFT HE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULT1
OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 12, 1960".
Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Rocca, Rozzi, Cortesi,
Ryan and Ahern.
OATH OF OFFICE TO Mayor Rocca at this time administered the Oath of Office to City Clerk
CITY CLERK, COI]qCILMEN Arthur Rodondi, after which the City Clerk administered the Oath of Office
& CITY TREASURER:

to the three Councilmen and the City Treasurer.
Council then took action on the verified claim as filed by the California
State Automobile Association in behalf of their member, Abraham Gonzales,
in the amount of $1,000.00 for damages to his parked vehicle when struck
a fire engine also involved in a property damage accident. Councilman
Rya~ moved, seconded by Councilman Rozzi and regularly carried, that the
claim be denied and referred to the City's insurance carrier.

EXPRESSION OF THANKS:
ELECTION OF
MAYOR ROCCA:
At this time, Councilman Rozzi expressed his thanks to the people for thei:
support in reelecting him to serve as Councilman. He then moved that
Councilman Rocca be reappointed to the mayor-ship for another term of one
year. Councilman Ahern seconded the motion, after which roll call vote wa~
as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Ryan, Rozzi and Ahern. Councilman Cortesi
voted no, stating he objected to the method by which the appointment was
made. Further discussion followed concerning this matter, after which
Mayor Rocca abstained from voting.

Councilman Ryan then moved that Councilman Patrick Ahern be appointed Vice
Mayor to serve during the next year's term. Lengthy discussion followed
concerning this matter, during which time Councilman Cortesi again objecte
to the method of the Council's' action, after which Councilman Ryan stated
that if it were the desire of the Council, he would withdraw his motion.
Councilman Cortesi at this time moved that Councilman Ryan be appointed
Mayor, stating that since he had served as Vice Mayor, he was entitled to
it. Further lengthy discussion followed, during which time discussion too
place concerning the permit given the South San Francisco Outboard Club fo
use of ramp area which had taken place the previous night. After discussi
Councilman Ryan again moved that Councilman Patrick Ahern be appointed as
Vice Mayor to serve during the next year's term. Mayor Rocca seconded the
motion, after which roll call was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Ryan, Rozz
and Rocca. No: Councilman Cortesi, Councilman Ahern abstained from votin
At this time, Mayor Rocca explained to those gathered the progress report
which had been prepared showing the Cfty's progress during the last fiscal
year, explaining the pertinent information it contained. He expressed his
thanks for the assistance rendered by the Council, department heads, emplc
ees and people during his last term of office. He then called on the
following for a few words following their electionto office: City Treasur
E. P. gauffmann, City Clerk Arthur Rodondi, Councilman Cortesi and Council
man Ryan, who expressed thetr thanks to the people for their support.
There being nothing further, Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by CouncllmaE
Ahern and regularly carried, that the meeting be adjourned to the next
regular meeting of Ma, Y 2, 1960. Time of adjournment - 9:~3 p.m.
