This is to notify you pursuant to the requirements of the Government
Code, that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco is called for Monday, November 14, 1960, at 7:30 p.m.
in the Council Chambers, City Hall, South San Francisco, California.
The meeting is called for the purpose of considering, introducing and
having the first reading of an ordinance entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO IMPOSING
A CITY SALES AND USE TAX; PROVIDING FOR THE PERFOlt~ANCE
BY THE STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF ALL FUNCTIONS
INCIDENT TO THE ADMINISTRATION, OPERATION AND COLLECTION
OF THE SALES AND USE TAX HEREBY IMPOSED, AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF~ .' -~ ~

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m.
Present: Councilmen Andrew Rocca, G. J. R~zzi,
and Patrick E. Ahem.
Absent: None
Emilio Cortesi, Leo J. Ryan
BRADLEY-BURNS
SALES TAX:
City ~ttorney Noonan briefly commented on the purpose of the specially call
meeting, stating that he had spoken to both County Manager Stallings and
District Attorney Keith Sorenson concerning whether or not the County was t
introduce an ordinance concerning the Bradley-Burns Sales Tax matter on
Tuesday, November 15, 1960. He was advised that the Supervisors had not
ordered the preparation of such an ordinance. He further commented that if
Council wished, they could wait the developments of the Supervisors meeting
and introduce an ordinance at their next regular meeting to be held Monday,
November 21, 1960, or that they could so introduce the ordinance which had
been prepared for this evening and then make whatever changes are necessary
depending on what the County ordinance contained.

FIRST READING:
Discussion followed, after which Councilman Ryan moved, seconded by Council
man Ahern and regularly carried, that the reading of the ordinance in its
entirety be waived and have its first reading and introduction by the read-
ing of title only. City Attorney Noonan stated that a motion could be
adopted that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO IMPOSING A CITY SALES AND USE TAX; PROVIDING FOR THE PERFOR~LqNCE
BY THE STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF ALL FUNCTIONS INCIDENT TO THE ADmIN-
ISTRATION, OPERATION AND COLLECTION OF THE SALES AND USE TAX HEREBY IMPOSE[
AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF" be introduced, reading in
its entirety having been duly waived. Councilman Rozzi so moved, seconded
by Councilman Ahern. Roll call vote w~s as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Andre
Rocca, G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi, Leo J. Ryan and Patrick E. Ahern.
ADJOURNMENT:
Councilman Rozzi then moved, seconded by Councilman Ahern and regularly
carried, that the meeting be adjourned to the meeting of November 21, 1960.
