Mayor Rozzi asked if there was a motion approvin~ the minutes

moved, seconded by Councilman Rocca and regularly carried,
that the minutes of the regular meetin~ of February 19, 1962,
be approved as submitted.

John A. Blume & Associates claim dated February 21, 1962
in the amount of $1,638.74 for engineering services in
connection with inspection and field control.
Councilman Ryan moved, Seconded by Councilman Rocca and regu-
Larly carried, that the claim as submitted for the South San
Francisco Marina be approved for paynent.
Mayor Rozzi opened the Public Hearing on the vacation of por-
5ions of the slope easements and drainage easements on Chest-
nut Avenue, asking if any written protests had been received,
5o which the City Clerk replied that none had been received by
~is office. Mayor Rozzi then asked if anyone present wished
5o register any oral protest. There bein~ none, Mayor Rozzi
closed the Publi~ Hearing.
City Attorney Noonan then remarked that a Resolution had been
p~epared to complete the matter which appeared elsewhere on
the Agenda for Council action.
Mayor Rozzi opened the Public Hearing on the Use Permit~Appli-
cation of the Tidewater 0il Company for a sign at 264 South
Airport Boulevard, asking if any written protests had been re-
ceived, to which the City Clerk replied that none had been re-
ceived by his office. He then asked if anyone present wished
tO offer any protest.
M~. Harry Banfield of Tidewater Oil Company spoke, requesting
permission be granted to their application for the sign, and
offering photographs of the sign and area in question for
Council information.
Mr. Don Galbraith of Foster & Kleiser Sign Company requested
approval to the application of Tidewater 0il Company for their
si~n.
During discussion, it was mentioned by the applicant that only
part of the si~n had been constructsd with City permission and
that part of it had been constructed without permission; the
applicant thinking the sign company had received permission of
the City, and the si~n company thinking that the applicant had
Secured permission.
ayor Rozzi stated that the City did not intend to render its
ecision tonight but would hear the discussion and make its
~eport later.
There beinm nothin~ further, Mayor Rozzi closed the Public
Hearing. ~ity Attorney Noonan requested that the record show
zhat the Council was in receipt of a Summary of Hearings from
zhe Plannin~ Commission in their Memorandum of February 28,
1962.
~here bein~ no objections, Mayor Rozzi so ordered the record
show.
~he City Clerk reported that the followin~ proclamations were

The City Attorney then explained the procedure involved con-
cernin~ publication and notification to the property owners,
after which he remarked that in the event the property owners
did not remove the weeds, the City could do so and charge the
property owners for the cost involved.
City Attorney Noonan explained the next resolution, after

Communication dated February 27, 1962, was received from Dan
Coleman Associates concerning the improvement of Willow Ave-
nue and submitting Engineer's Report, the Plans and Specifi-
cations for the improvement of Willow Avenue.

and there being no objections, the communication was ordered

Communication dated February 15, 1962, was received from The
Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company consenting to the
abandonment of two easements located within Lot 6, Block 1,
Lindenville Industrial Park.
T~is matter was referred to the Cit) Attorney for preparation
of the necessary documents.
Communication dated January 18, 1962, was received from the
Public Utilities Commission concerir~ proposal coverin~ cer-
tain chan~es at Crossin~ No. E-9.3, intersection of Grand
Agenue and the Southern Pacific Company main line.
This matter was referred to City Marager Aiello and depart-
ments concerned for study and report to City Council.
VARIANCE RESOLUTION No. 1472 was received from the Planning
Commission recommending permission be granted for the request
for a 3'6" encroachment into required 20' rear yard in order
to add additional livin~ area at 206 Rockwood Drive - Lot 4,
]Block 3, Brentwood #1.
COuncilman Rocca moved, seconded by Councilman Ahem and
regularly carried, that the recommer.dation of the Plannin~
Commission be approved and accepted.
USE PERMIT RESOLUTION No. 1473 was received from the Plannin~
Commission recommendin~ permission be wranted for the request
to construct a 4-unit apartment on rear of lot at 507 Baden
Avenue - Lot 39, Block 100, So. San Francisco Plat #1, RSM B/6,
with the condition that the entrance to Apartment #1 on the
__ound floor be relocated.

Th~ City Manager explained the bids received and remarked that
the two low bids on two different size hoses had been recom-
mended for acceptance by the Fire Chief and that although this
was not the usual practice, oral approval ~ad been received

CoUncilman Rocca moved, seconded by Councilman Ryan and regu-
larly carried, that the recommendation of the Fire Chief, as
recited by the Cit~ Manager, be approved and accepted, and
saat 600 feet of 1~ inch fire hose be purchased from the Wes-
~ern Fire Equipment Company and 1000 feet of 2½ inch fire hose
beipurchased from the American Rubber Company.

There being nothing further, Mayor Rozzi asked if any member

Councilman Ahem brought to Council attention the recent opin-
ion of the State Attorney General corcerning the joint use of
school and City fallout shelters, recuesting the City Manager
zo~arran~e a Joint meeting with the school authorities on the
ma~ter. -

Mayor Rozzi asked if anyone present in the audience had any-
~h/ng they wished to offer.
Ja~ Hartman of the American Federation of State, County and
Municipal Employees, Local No. 1569, asked concerning a meet-
[ng on a letter their organization recently wrote. Mayor
Rozzi remarked that a meeting was to be arranged and that they
would be notified. This was agreeable to them.
