The meeting was called to order by Mayor Bertucellt at 5s05 p.m.

City Attorney Noonan stated that in accordance with the instructions of the City
Council a letter had been forwarded to the County Board of Supervisors in the matter
of the Westborough Boulevard Extension. He recited the questions which had been
raised by the Board of Superv/sors in their letter dated March 4, 196g after which
discussion followed concerning the cost involved with regard to the matter of
beautification .of this roadway. Director of Public Works Louis Goss at this time
explained the estimated costs concerning the landscaping after which ~ayor Bertucelli
stated no action could be taken until all of the information had been received.
Discussion then followed concerning the matter of the drainage improvements at which
time City Attorney Noonan briefly outlined the cost to be borne by the property
owners from West Orange Avenue to E1Camino Real and from E1Camtno Real to Colma Creek.
Director of Public Works Goss comnented that possibly the State could be requested to
pay for the cost of this improvement under E1Camino Real since this was their obli-
gation.
Discussion then followed concerning the City's contacting the State Division of
Highways relative to the i~provement of E1Camino Real, not only at Arroyo Drive but
at the intersection of E1Camino Real and Chestnut Avenue and Westborough Boulevard
including Mission Road in order to make a better improvoment all the way to Second Street
Discussion then followed concerning the traffic which would be generated at the location
of E1Camino Real and Chestnut Avenue as a result of the improvement of Westborough
Boulevard. Councilman Rocca suggested that the City contact the design engineer of
the State concerning this matter and also contact the County as well. He further
suggested that the Director of Public Works meet with the County Engineer, Mr. Wilson,
and the State officials to work the matter of this intersection out.
Councilman Mammini, in speaking on the flow of t~affic and possible snarls which might
take place at this intersection, suggested that the State be immediately contacted as
well as the County for assistance in this regard.
Mayor Bertucelli requested that the Police Chief be asked to attend at this time in
order that he might explain the matter of traffic at this intersection.
In the interim, Council discussed the matter of drainage and the participation by
the property owners and the City in this regard.
Upon the arrival of Police Chief Fabbrt and at the request of the Mayor, Police Chief
Fabbri outlined the discussions which had been held concerning the volume of traffic
which would be generated at the intersection of E1Camino Real, Chestnut Avenue and
~ssion Road. He con~nented on the traffic count and studies which had been made when
the original plans were being prepared, stating that at that time, ~ention was made
that signalization at both E1Camino Real and N/ssion Road was necessary to handle
the volume of traffic which would result when ~estborough Boulevard were improved. He
likewise discussed the matter of stacking lanes which would be of assistance in control-
ling traffic after which he further remarked that railroad lights would also have to be
installed where the switch track crosses Chestnut Avenue since no gates would be at
this location.
Further discussion followed concerning the early meettngs which had been held among
the staff of the City as well as with the property owm ers, County officials and the
State Division of~ighways.
It was the suggestion of the Police Chief that a meeting be held with the County official
and the State officials concerning the matter of widening E1Camino Real from Second
Street where it was presently proposed to cease, all the way to Arroyo Drive.
After ffe~ther discussion, City Attorney Noonan stated that, ti Council wished, the
following motion could be considered for adoption8 "Move that the Director of Public
Works and City Attorney be instructed to immediately confer with the property owners,
Clubview Apartments, California Golf Club, Messrs. Donati, State Division of Highways
and property owners to the East for the purpose of obtaining participation in the
Twelve-Mile Creek Improvement.'.
Councilman Stetnkamp so moved, seconded by Councilman Rocca and regularly carried.

Mayor Bertucellt at this time stated that if there were no further business to come
before the City Council, the meeting would be adjourned to a Personnel meeting in
the Conference Room.
There being nothing further, Mayor Bertucelli adjourned this mee2ing at 6~07 p.m.
The Personnel session meeting was adjourned at 7~15 p.m.
