CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ahern at 11:07 a.m.

SENATOR GREGORIO, CITY
ATTORNEY:-
DISCUSSION CONCERNING
FUNDS FOR COLMA CREEK
FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT:
Also present .were City Attorney Noonan and State Senator Arlen Gregorio, together with
his Administrative Assistants.
A general discussion followed concerning the matter of Colma Creek and the availability
of State funds and assistance towards the work to be performed in the flood control
measure by the Army Corps of Engineers.
State Senator Gregorio replied that this year would be an extremely lean year insofar
as State funds and assistance were concerned.
Mayor Ahern brought to the attention of Senator Gregorio the Napa project which was
being assisted by the S~tate.
Councilman Mammini at this time briefly commented on the participation by the Federal
Government and the State in a project such as this after which the City Attorney commented
on the policy changes from the prior methods, remarking that the County Engineer's office
had already discussed this matter with the State agencies, explaining the proposed bill
which would make changes in the water code. City Attorney Noonan gave to Senator
Gregorio a copy of the mentioned bill. He further commented on the [equest which the
City had received from the State with regard to a parcel of land for Highway Project 380
after which Mayor Ahern suggested that Senator Gregorio confer with Congressman McCIoskey
with regard to the proposed Corps of Engineers' project.
Councilman Borba remarked on the effect which the Corps' project would have on the
property owners in the area and the loss of tax revenue if the project were undertaken.

Discussion then followed concerning the upper regions to the west which contributed
water and silt, during which time the City Attorney explained from a map, pointing out
the areas in question.
Upon conclusion of the discussion on the matter of Colma Cree, Senator Gregorio compli-
mented and commended the City Council for their recently-enacted legislation with regard
to the non-returnable, no-deposit beverage cans and bottles.
Councilman Bertucelli briefly commented on the State law which was passed in Salem,
Oregon, giving to Senator Gregoeio a copy of this bill.
There being no objections, Mayor Ahern stated that the City Council would recess the
meeting in the Council Conference ROom to the Lobby of the City Hall to partic'ipate
in Senator Gregorio's Constituents' Day ceremonies, including luncheon, at the con-
clusion of which the meeting was to stand adjourned.
