HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1974-03-08NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a special meeting on Friday, March 8, 197~, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California. The purpose of the meeting is to consider the staff report and hear citizen's comments regarding the senior citizens' facility and make any authorization necessary to complete the lease of the space accommodation. CALL TO OBDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Steinkamp at 5:05 PM. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, William A. Borba, F. Frank M-mmini, Terry J. Mirri and Warren Steinkamp. RESO NO. 53-7~: AU%~o CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE LEASE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS FACILITY Lengthy discussion followed, at which time the following commented on lease of space for the senior citizens facility. City Manager Alario, who remarked that furtherstudywas made by staff for adequate facilities. Acting Director of Parks and Recreation, Richard Milkovich, who sn~w-rized for Council the space available in the Bank of America building and the building presently being used by the Salvation Army, as well as the costs involved for rental and for alterations in both. Councilman Borba co~mented on the availability of parking spaces to the rear of the building presently being used by the Salvation Army. Mr. Sola, representing some of the senior citizens who were not here to speak in their behalf, urged use of the building presently occupied by the Salvation A~-my. Further discussion followed between members of City Council, City staff, and senior citizens in the audience, after which, at the request of the Mayor, the City Manager stated that it was the recommendation of staff to lease the building presently being occupied by the Salvation Army. This was based on the least amount of cost involved. Mr. Joseph Haggerty, rea] estate agent representing the Bank of America, urged Council's consideration to the leasing of that building since it was a better facility. After discussion Counci!m~_n Borba moved, seconded by Councilman Mirri, that the City accept the recommendation of staff and lease the building presently occupied by the S~lvation Army, soon to be vacated. At the request of the City Attorney, Councilman Borba introduced a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE LEASE FOR THE SENIOR CITIZENS FACILITY." 181 I Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen William A. Borba, F. Frank ~$~mini, Terry J. Mirri and Warren Steinkamp. Noes, Councilman Patrick E. Ahern. ,, There being nothing f~rther Mayor Steinkamp adjourned the meeting at 6:45 PM.
