Call to Order. 9:06 a.m. 2. Roll Call. Present: Councilman Gupta and Vice Mayor Addiego. 3. Public Comments. None. 4. Review of staff's proposed Sustainability Workplan for the year. Assistant City Manager Jim Steele detailed the Sustainability Workplan highlighting the following goals: to promote sustainability as a lifestyle commitment in the community, investigate short and long term efforts to reduce the City's impact on the environment, chart progress on meeting climate action plans, gain clout acting as a partner in promotion for the public sector, and to effectively partner with other governmental entities. Some of the first year priorities he mentioned included: LED streetlights, installation of Smart Meters, and to expand the recycling program. Vice Mayor Addiego brought up electronic waste disposal and the importance of programs with effective educational opportunities. Assistant City Manager Steele proceeded to discuss future year efforts as well, which he said would consist of water conservation, water recycling, alternative energy and fuel sources, and expanding communication with residents. Councilman Gupta expressed interest in encouraging technology -based companies to locate in South San Francisco, further promoting the City as a hub for innovation and research. Vice Mayor Addiego and Councilman Gupta ended the meeting with a discussion emphasizing the importance of conservation and restoration efforts. 5. Adjournment. Public Works Director Brian McMinn reviewed findings released in a Civil Grand Jury Report concerning projected flooding impacts to Oyster Point. Discourse involving responses to the findings and recommendations ensued. Committee members' sentiments were generally aligned with the County's suggestions. 5. Adjournment.
