To demonstrate the relationship between the 2015 San Mateo County AMI income categories
and the City's workforce, a sample of public sector job positions were selected and summarized
in the table below. The data below assumes a single person household with only one job; thereby
excluding any dependents that workers may be responsible for (i.e. single parents) and it also
excludes any incomes from an additional resident (a spouse for example). Residents' eligibility
for workforce housing will vary, depending on the number of dependents and whether or not
there are other people living in the household that earn any income.

Data was supplied by the City of South San Francisco HR Department. It does not include other
employment sources, such as the SSFUSD.
Household size was been estimated by
using the
health insurance data. The above data has
assumes no second
incomes, although it
is highly
likely that there would be a second income
from a spouse /other
working adult living in the household.
Many of the State and Federal affordable housing financing tools, such as tax credits and
Successor Agency funds, apply to income categories of 60% AMI or less. The City of South San
Francisco has 57 employees, or 14 %, that earn less than 60% of the AMI.
