HOTEL PROPOSAL AT THE OYSTER POINT MARINA
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council Review a proposal from Dalton Smith for the
construction of a premier hotel at the Oyster Point Marina.
B ACKGROUND/DIS CUS SION
Several months ago, Dalton Smith approached the City with a proposal to build a premier hotel at the
Oyster Point Marina. As the discussions evolved, the possibility of constructing a new Conference
Center in conjunction with a new hotel was explored by the City Council, Conference Center
Authority and staff. Although a decision on a new Conference Center is currently on hold, there may
be some merit in reviewing the prospect of a new "stand alone" hotel at the Oyster Point Marina. As
a result, staff has requested Dalton Smith to provide the City Council with an overview of his
proposed project.
It should be noted that this item is informational only. No action is requested from the City Council.
Respectfully submitted,
