PARKING PLACE COMMISSION
1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm by Chairperson Parenti

5. APPROVAL OF REGULAR MEETING MINUTES: November 12, 2013
Motion—Vice Chairperson Shihadeh/Second—Chairperson Parenti to approve as
submitted. Approved by unanimous voice vote.
6. PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS NONE
7. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
a. Waive meter fees in the Miller Avenue Parking Garage on Saturday, February 8,
2014 for the Lunar New Year Event.
Principal Planner Beaudin presented a verbal staff report recommending that the
parking garage fees be waived from 9AM to 6PM on Saturday, February 8, 2014 as
a courtesy to event attendees and participants. Principal Planner Beaudin also
introduced Simon Kwong from the City Manager’s Office, who is helping to
coordinate the event. Vice Chairperson Shihadeh suggested that this could be a
helpful way to encourage event attendees to remain downtown and support local
businesses for the day.
Motion—Vice Chairperson Shihadeh/Second—Chairperson Parenti to approve as
submitted. Approved by unanimous voice vote.
b. Parking Place Commission Reorganization
Principal Planner Beaudin recommended that the reorganization be postponed to the
next scheduled hearing since the full Parking Place Commission was not present.
Chairperson Parenti and Vice Chairperson Shihadeh discussed the item and
confirmed their desire to postpone the reorganization to the next scheduled hearing
on February 11, 2014. No further action required.
8. ITEMS FROM STAFF
Principal Planner Beaudin informed the Commission that staff was currently working on
a review of current parking meter rates, enforcement hours, and technology used in
surrounding jurisdictions that would be presented to the Commission at the February 11,
2014 hearing. Vice Chairperson Shihadeh suggested that staff also study the impacts
of Sunday enforcement, similar to what is currently implemented in the City of San
Francisco.
Principal Planner Beaudin also introduced new Associate Planner Tony Rozzi to the
Commission.

10. ADJOURNMENT
Motion— Vice Chairperson Shihadeh/Second— Commissioner James to adjourn the
meeting at 5:08pm. Approved by unanimous voice vote.
