4. Review bids for new Fire Station
Staff Report presented by City Manager Nagel
Councilmembers voiced their opinions on the various phases of the bid summary.
Councilmember Garbarino, Mayor Pro Tern Fernekes and Mayor Green support
having the fire station completed in its entirety and not in stages; it was further
discussed that by constructing it now the City would save money. Councilmember
Matsumoto is committed to having the project completed in 1-2 years depending on
the RDA funding. Councilmember Gonzalez would like to commit to the project sixty
days after the RDA Fiscal Merger is approved. His apprehension is that if all the
money is spent on the Fire Station there would not be sufficient funds to purchase the
PUC land and commit to housing projects for 3-5 years. Councilmember Matsumoto
explained that the PUC land is important so that the City will have control over its
development. City Manager Nagel clarified that the purchase of the PUC land and
construction of the new Fire Station can be fiscally accomplished.

Being no further business, Mayor Green adjourned the meeting at 6:28 p.m.
