HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 77-2005 RESOLUTION NO. 77-2005 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RES C) LlJT'I ON APPROVING AMENDMEN1' AND REST'A1-'EMENT OF 1-'HE ]OIN'T POWERS AGREEMEN'T ES'TABLISEIING rrI-IE PENINSlJLA CONGESTION RELIEF ALLIANCE AND AlrrHORIZING rrHE CITY MANAGER rro EXECU1-'E SAID AMENDMEN1' AND REINSTATEMENrr ON BEI-IALF OFrrHE CITY WHEREAS, the Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance ("Alliance") was established in 2000 through a Joint Powers Agreelnent ("JP A") executed by fifteen cities in the County of San Mateo, to assist the public and private sectors in achieving traffic congestion relief; and WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo and the City of Atherton desire to join the Alliance and two other cities in the County are also considering lnembership; and WHEREAS, in the interests of effective lnanagelnent of the Alliance, it is desirable to increase the flexibility of the cOlrunittee structure by giving the Board discretion to establish cOlmnittees as it deelns necessary and desirable to assist the Alliance in carrying out its organizational purposes, and to designate the purpose and composition of any standing cOlrunittees in the Bylaws of the Alliance; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to mnend the JP A to provide for the addition of new n1elnbers, to facilitate the lnore flexible approach to the Alliance's cOlrunittee structure, and to make certain housekeeping corrections required by these changes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby approves the First Alnendlnent to and Restatement of Joint Powers Agreelnent Establishing the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the doculnents necessary to effectuate the First AInendlnent and Restatelnent on behalf of the City Council. * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular Ineeting held on the 13th day of July 2005 by the following vote: AYES: Councihnernbers Pedro Gonzalez and Karvl Matsulnoto, Mayor Pro Tern Joseph A.
