City Hall June 3, 1944
A special meeting of the Planning Commi ssion was held in the Ci ty Hell, South
San Francisco on June 3 , 1944.
Present: Mr. Andrew Booca, Chairman: Messrs: D. W.
Cuncan, A. J. Eschelbach, A. J. Welte, G. DiNardi, and A. Sani.
Mr. Rocca stated the City Counsil had received peti:tiiloD" signed by about 150 reside:tl!s
in Cirole Court vicinity asking for a pennit to build a store at Orange and Commeroial
Avenues, N. to corner. Store to be operated by one Neollini.
This matter was discussed vary thoroughly, and the opinon of members present was asked
and given, so a res lt, the Planning Commision regularly moved by Mr. D.W. Duncan and
seconded by A. J. Eschelbach and carried unanimously that eh application be not granted
and the City Counsil be advised that after due oonsideration the Planning Commission does
not recommend the granting of this petition, and does not deem it possible at the
present time, and also that to grant permission of a store at this location would create
a spotty condition of business houses and also thct there is not available space for a
general business district at this location. If thi~i req~est was granted to the petit1Gners
it would open up the same procedure in other parts of town, and this condition is not deemeo
nec.cary.
Mr. Bocce mentioned several subjects which would oome up at the nex meeting,
especially Post War Planning.
Mr. Rocca stated that owing to our next meeting following in July 5th the regular:ty
monthly meeting would be held on Wednesday July 12, 1944 at 8 P. M.

A regular meeting of the Planning Commission was held at the City Hall on Wednesday
June 7th 1944 at 8 P. M. Present Mr. A. hocc~ in the Chair. Messrs: A. J. Eschelbac,
D. W. Duncan, J. DiNardi, A. Sa:ilLi, S. Robbis, A. J . Welte, and J. \3. Walker Secretary.
The minutes of the meeting of May 10th were read and approved.

Post-War Planning
A long discussion was held on the above subject, and the Chairman suggested that
member give this matter serious consideration, and b~ing his
ideas and suggestion to
the next meeting of the Planning Commission. Extracts form a magazine were reEd showing
what other cities have in mind and Bre seriously considering in the city of Post
War Planning. Post War Planning will be discussed at our next meeting.
New buildings erected without garages and the character of garages to be erected
where goverment will allow were discussed. It was regularlyrnoved and seconded and
c~rried un&nimoualy that Omty Counsil instruct its Building inspector to see that
any ga.rages built for these new homes be of good class,equel to the character of the
home on the lot on which a proposed garage might be built.

Mr. S. M. R. Sweeney:
At a regular meeting of the Planning Cownission held on Wednesday June 7th
1944 it wasregu~~ly moved and seconded that the City Counsil instruct it's Building
inspector to see that gargges built on lots where these new homes are conform to the
general structure of the home, thereby keeping up the good appearance of the
present building.

A regular meetingof the Planning Commission of South Sen Francisco was held in
the City Hall on Wednesday July 12th 1944 at 8 P. M. Present: Mr. A. Rocca in the
Chair: Messrs: D. W. Duncan, A. J. Welte, A. Eschelbach, l. DiNarid, A. Sam.i, S. K.. Rot
and J. G. Walker, Secretary.
The minutes of the meetings of June 7th and July 3rd 1944 were read e~d approved.
Lots 72 and 73, South City Village.
Mr. Rocca read a letter he had received for Messrs: Conway &:. Culligan
asking that Lots 72 & 73 in the Sub-Division now know as South City Village be
for business or commercial purposes. After due consideration it was regularly moved b~
Mr. Sanit seconded by lVIr. S. K. Robbins and carried unanimously that lots #72 &. #73 be
re...zoned for Commercial purposes.
Post War Planning
The above subject was given due and serious consideration, and the following
propects were listed as being essential and neccessary propects under the Post
War Planning: No.1 Sewage Disposal, No.. 2 Central Fire Station, No 3 Police Departm
No.4 Survey of Lighting System, No.5 Widening of Streets (Extension of Magnolia Ave
over to El Camino Real)
Regularly moved by Mr. DiNardi and seconded by Mr. A . J. Eschelbach and carried
unanimously that the City Counsil be requested to give consideration to the extension
of Magnolia Ave, to a point on the El Camino Real, this for the purpose of serving the
contigsicus territory and also to keep trade in South Sen Francisco.
No further business coming forward, meeting adjourned until August.
