After consideration of the above appllcatie. for Use Permit, it was regularly

to do wi th the HUlLt Packing Plant building in South San. ]'ranciseo" showing the
imprQTements, and also explained the JIilftW waY's of processing meats, and explainei
the OdQrless Rendering and the new lieas &at sanitary metheds pertaining to Holding
pens (it slaughtering were put iato effeet). Also stated the Holding pens would be
eOTered II and that the ai de walle, aDd floers would of cement or other similar
construct!.. and would be washed don every day wi tll live steam. at a high pressure.
Letters were use read from the Bureau Qf bima! Indus try, Washington , D.O., the
01 ty Ma.nag~r of Dubuque, Iowa, and from a firm ot Architects eel Engiaeers
specializing in, !ll$l.ern packing house caBstructieD - all speaking in the highest terms
of the type of cORstructio:a and the sanitary prQcesses used in modern plants _
such as propo8e~by the Dubuque Packing Oompany for South Baa Francisco.
Messrs Sani and Cortesi exprewwed their opinion of slaughtering, and said that
while they would welcome with open arms this pls.nt,l they were opposed to sls.ughterlBg
at this particular location.

Opinions were also expressed members of the Commission..
After hes.ring pros and cons in the matter, Mayor Ferko adjourned the meeting.

Special Meeting on Thursiay March 3rd,l949, at 12 noen. Meeting to be aeIi at
