CITY OF SOUTH S~N FR/~NCISCO.
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco does ordain
as follows:
Sec%ion 1. A City Planning Commission is hereby created in and
for the City of South San Francisco. S~id City Planning Commission
shall consist of nine (9) members, who shall be appointed by the
Mayor with the approval of the City Council. The number of members
of said commission who are not officials of said City shall exceed
the number of members who may be officers or employees of s aid City,
Section 2. Of the members of the commission first appointed,
five (5) shall be appointed for terms of one (1) year, two (2) for
terms of two (2) years, one (1) for the term of three (3) years,
and one (1) for the term of four (&) years. Their successors shall ~'
be appointed for terms of four (&) years.
Section 3. If a vacancy shall occur, otherwise than by expir-
ation of a term, it shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired
portion o.f the term. The terms of the ex officio members shall
correspond to their respective official terms.
Section ~. The members of the Commission shall not receive
any compensation for their services. The City Council shall fix
the amount of compensation to be paid to the secretary of the
City Planning Commission.
Section ~. Immediately upon their appointment, the members shall
organize as a City Planning Commission and elect a chairman, among
the appointed members. The term of office of such chairman shall be
· a one (1) year peri°d. They shall also appoint a ~cretary, who
shall not be one of their number, and who shall/hold office during
the pleasure of said City Planning Commission. In case of absence ~
of the chairman or secretary, the embers of the commission shall
select a chairman and secretary pro tempore, as the case may be.
Section 6. The City Planning Commission may appoint such
employees as may be necessary to carry out the powers and duties of
the City Planning Commission; provided, however, that the City Council
shall fix the amount of compensation, if any, to be paid to such
employee s.
Section V. The City Planning Commission shall meet at least
once a month at'such time and at such place within said City of South
San Francisco as said City Planning Commission may fix bY resolution.
Special meetings may be called at any time by the chairman, or three
(3) members by written notice served upon each member of the comission
at least three (3) hours before the time 'specified for the proposed
meeting. Five (5) members of the commission shall constitute a quorum
for the transaction of business. The office of any member who fails
to attend three consecutive regular monthly meetings of the Planning
Co~ission without a legitimate excuse shall automatically become
vac ant.
Section 8. This ordinance shall be published by one insertion
in raThe Enterprise", a newspaper of general circulation, printed and
published in said City of South San Francisco and shall take effect
and be in force on the expiration of thirty (30) days from its pass-
age and adopt ion.

Passed and adopted as an o~ce of the city of South San
Francisco at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City on
the 21st day of June , 19~B, by the following vote:
