Francisco does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Eve~ person who is hereafter appointed
to ~ office or position in ~he service of the City of South S~
Fr~cisco mus~, before entering upon the duties of
his office or poSition, take ~d subscribe ~o ~he following
oath;

of Califo~ia, ~d that I ~ no~ now ~d have no~, with~ said
period, be~ e~' ~ecome a member of or affiliated with ~y ~oup,

advocates, or ~eaches, or has, ~thin said period, advise,
advocated, or taught, the ove~hrow by force or violence of the
Govement of the United States of ~erica, or of the Sta~e of

advocate, or teach, or be or become a member of or affiliated

force or violence, of the Government of the United States
of America or of the State Of California; that I will well
and faithfully discharge the duties of my office or employ-
ment in the service of the City of South San Francisco ;
and that I take this whole obligation freely without any
mental reservation or purpose of evasion,. SO HELP ME GOD./
Section 2. Every person who now holds or
occupies an appointive office or position in the service of
the City of South San Francisco must, within thirty (30)
days after the effective date of this ordinance, or if he
be on leave or under suspension for cause from the service
of the city at such effective date, within thirty (30) days
after his return to such service, take and subscribe to the
oath set forth in Section I hereof.
Section 3. Each oath required hereunder shall
be taken, executed, and signed before an official authorized
by law to administer oaths and the jurat of such officer shall
be affixed to the oath so subscribed under the official seal
of such officer.
Section 4. The oath hereby required to be
executed by appointive officers and employees of the City of
South San Francisco shall, within the period prescribed for
their execution, be filed with the city clerk.
Section 5. Whenever the city council shall
determine that an appointive officer or employee has sworn
falsely in, or has violated, an oath required hereunder,
such person shall immediately be discharged.
Section 6o Any action taken by the city council
under Section 5 of this ordinance shall be in accordance with
the provisions of Ordinance No. 216 of the City of South San
Francisco, entitled: "AN GQDi~fANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A PERSONNEL SYSTEM
FOR SAID CITY".
Section 7. This ordinance shall be pub-
lished by one (1) insertion in The South San Francisco
Enterprise-Journal, a weekly newspaper of general circula-
tion printed and published in said City of South San Francisco,
and shall take effect and be in force upon the expiration
of thirty (30) days following its passage.
Introduced this 28th day of August, 1950.
Passed and adopted as an ordinance of the
City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco this 5th day
of September , 1950, by the following vote:
Ayes, Councilmen Victor Boido, Charles K.Elder, ~Adolph Sani,
Emilio Cortesi, Joseph Bracco
Noes, Councilmen None
Absent, Councilmen None
The foregoing ordinance is hereby approved by
me, as Mayor of the City of South San Francisco, this 5th
day of September , 1950.
