~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISC0'ADOPTIN
THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE 1949 EDITION)
WHEREAS the Uniform Building Code 1949 Edition has-~a~r-
printed as a code in book form and is known as "UNIFORM BUILDING CODE
1949 EDITION" adopted by the Pacific Coast Building Officials Confer-
ence at the 6th Annual Meeting October, 1927, with revisions and
additions approved at the 26th Annual Meeting October, 1948;
NOW, THEREEORE, the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That certain Building Code known and designated
as "UNIFORM BUILDING CODE 19~9 EDITION", but subject to modification
as hereinafter provided, together with Volume II, Uniform Building
Code Standards, 1949 Edition, is hereby adopted for the purpose of
regulating the construction of buildings within said City of South
San Francisco, three (3) copies of said Uniform Building Code and said
Volume II having been filed for use and examination by the public in
the office of the City Clerk of said City of South San Francisco.
Section 2. There is hereby added to said building code a
section which shall be numbered and read as follows:
Section 507.1 RAT PROOFING.
Every building or portion thereof, shall be made rat proof
by providing an earth cover of concrete a minimum of two (2) inches
thick within the foundation walls.
Section 3. Strict compliance with the terms and provisions
of said Uniform Building Code is required in all building construction
work in said 0ity of South San Francisco, to which work said Uniform
Building Code is applisable.
Section 4. All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
Section 5. Any person, persons, firm or corporation who
shall violate any provision of this ordinance or of said Uniform
Building Code shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction
/9~thereof, shall be punished by a fine not less then TWENTY - FIVE
DOLLARS ~25.00) and not exceeding THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00)
o~ by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three (3) months,
or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day's vio]~ion of
said Uniform Building Code shall be deemed to be a separate offense
and shall be punished accordingly.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be published once in
the ENTERPRISE-SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO JOURNAL, a weekly newspaper of
general circulation, printed and published in the City of South
San Francisco, and shall take effect and be in force from and after
the expiration of thirty (30) days after its adoption.

of the City of South San Francisqo, at a regular meeting of said
