ESTABLISHING A THIRTY-FIVE MILE PER HOUR SPEED
LIMIT ON OLD MISSION ROAD BETWEEN THE NORTHERLY
CITY LIMITS ACROSS SAID ROAD AND THE INTERSECTION
OF SAID ROAD WITH GRAND AVENUE.
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco
does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Said city council does find from the reports
of the Division of Highways, the ChlSf of Police, and the Works
Engineer, which are on file in the office of the city clerk,
that the prima facie speed limit of fifty-five (55) miles per
hour is greater than is reasonable and safe on a portion of
Old Mission Road lying within said city and designated in the
next section hereof, and said city council does determine that a
maximum speed of thirty-five (35) miles per hour is appropriate
to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is a reasonable
and safe maximum speed limit. ~
Section 2. It is hereby ordered that the maximum
speed limit on Old Mission Road from the northerly city limits
to the intersection of said Road with Grand Avenue (between
Engineers Station 29%00 - a point at the westerly prolongation
of the southerly property line of Grand Avenue - and Engineers St~
tion 57 700 - a point at the northerly city limits) shall be
thirty-five (35) miles per hour. The superintendent of streets
is hereby instructed to install appropriate signs giving notice
of such maximum speed limit.
Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine not in
excess of TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($250.00), or by imprisonment
for a period of not more than three (3) months, or by both such
fine and imprisonment.

Section 4. This ordinance shall be published once
and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the
date of its adoption.

of South San Francisco at a regular meeting of the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco,
this 19th day of October, 1953, by the
