Dear Stephanie:
Following is our response to the letter that you
forwarded. Please let me know, should you need additional
information
1. THE HOMEOWNERS ON A STREET WERE NOT GIVEN A FAIR AMOUNT OF
TIME TO BE NOTIFIED ABOUT THE PROJECT AS YOUR DEPARTMENT KNEW
ABOUT THIS 2 YEARS PRIOR BEFORE WE WERE NOTIFIED.
Response: As owners, we followed the City Guidelines and
timeframe to reach out to our neighbors. A hotel project is per
allowed use per land use in the zoning ordinance of the
city. The project was being designed and brought to a level of
satisfaction with the design review committee before it could be
shared with the public. Owners have worked closely with the
Planning Department to bring the project to this stage.
2. THIS BUILDING WILL TAKE AWAY OUR SUNLIGHT IN OUR YARDS AND
PRIVACY.
Response: The building design is sensitive to meet or
exceeds all the setback and shadow angle step back requirements
for the building. The hotel is designed in a way that all the
public areas of the Hotel are facing El Camino Real or have
enough buffer area to screen the direct view into the
neighbors. All the Guestroom windows are 24-30 inches from the
floor and are provided with window covering to provide blackout
and privacy to the room. Hotel rooms are at a height that helps
the natural line of sight and minimize sight of the neighbor
properties (per exhibit on Sheet # A19 ).
3. I HAVE SEVERAL CHRONIC CONDITIONS SUCH AS SEVERE DEPRESSION
IN WHICH SUN HELPS ME FEEL BETTER, PANIC ATTACKS, AND SLEEP
APNEA. THE NOISE OF A CONSTRUCTION WIILL AFFECT HOW I FEEL AND
IAND IF NEED BE I WILL CONTACT AN ATTORNEY TO HOLD THE PROPERTY
OWNER RESPONSIBLE.
Response: The construction time and noise level will be as
permitted by City guidelines and regulations.
4. THIS IS NOT A GOOD SITE AS EL CAMINO REAL IS ALREADY VERY
CONGESTED WITH TRAFFIC AND A STREET IS ALSO CONGESTED AND VERY
NARROW PLUS WE HAVE SEVERAL KIDS ON THIS BLOCK WHO WOULD BE IN
DANGER,
Exhibit B-1 - Applicant Response

transportation facilities and ensure that new developments are
designed in ways to maximize the potential for alternative
transportation usage.
• Establish an ongoing monitoring and enforcement program to
ensure that the desired alternative mode use percentages are
achieved
5. WE WERE TOLD BY THE MEETING THERE WOULD BE NO PLACES FOR
FOOD IN YOUR LETTER BUT I SEE HERE THERE IS A BREAKFAST AREA,
AND LOUNGE SO MAYBE LIQUOR WILL BE SERVED ANOTHER CONCERN. WE
WERE TOLD THIS HOTEL WOULD BE JUST FOR SLEEPING.
Response: The hotel is not a full-service hotel. It has
limited F&B offering for Breakfast for the guests staying in the
hotel. All the amenities are for the guests staying in the
hotel.
6. THERE ARE TOO MANY CARS AND SPOTS THAT WILL BE COMING INTO
THE NEIGHBORHOOD LIKE I SAID TOO CONJESTED.
Response: A Travel Demand Management Program has been
developed in accordance with City of SouthSan Francisco TDM
ordinance to:
• Ensure that expected increases in traffic resulting from

ensure that the desired alternative mode use percentages are
achieved.
* Guests access for the hotel is from El Camino Real. Guests do not require the usage of A Street or other neighborhood roads for access to the hotel.
7. SO IF POSSIBLE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF I MAY COMMUNICATE WITH
OWNERS AND HOW MUCH TIME THIS WILL TAKE AND IF WE CAN COME TO
SOME KIND OF COMPROMISE AS SMALLER CARS GARAGES, A BUILDING NOW
TO TALL I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING LOWER. ALSO FOR MY
INCONVENIENCE OF DEALING WITH THE CONSTRUCTION NOISE, AND LOSS
OF VALUE TO MY HOME. ARE THEY THE OWNERS GOING TO COMPENSATE FOR
THE LOSS,
Response: The Project Construction time is projected to be
24-30 months depending upon how the ongoing PANDEMIC CRISIS will
pan out to be. Owners are most welcome to meet and communicate
with our Neighbour. Owner's representative Apri Ghuman can be
reached any time at 415 816-2134 to facilitate a meeting.
Apri Ghuman had reached out tor Diane Portillo, at @ 10:40 on 5/6/20, when he left her a
