AN ORDINANCE OF TflE CITY OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO PURSUANT TO SECTION
35550.1 OF THE STREETS AND HIGH-
WAYS CODE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINT-
MENT, KEMOVAL, QUALIFICATIONS, TERM
OF OFFICE AND NUMBER OF I~MBERS OF
THE PARKING PLACE COMMISSION FOR
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
The City Council of the City of South San Francisco
does ordain as follows:
Section 1. CREATION OF CO~ISSION: TITLE.
A Parking Place Commission is hereby created in
and for the City of South San Francisco entitled, South San
Francisco Parking Place Commission.
Section 2. NUMBER OF MEMBERS: APPOINTMENT AND
REMOVAL:
The Commission shall consist of three members. The
members of the parking Place Commission shall be appointed
by the Mayor of said City with the approval of the City Council.
A Commission member may be removed by a majority vote of the
City Council at any time or as provided by Section 35557 of
the Streets and Highways Code.
Section 3. QUALIFICATIONS:
A Commissioner shall be a resident and qualified
elector of the City and possess the further qualifications
set forth in Section 35556 of the Streets and Highways Code.
Section 4. TERMS OF OFFICE:
The Commissioner shall hold office for the term of
three years from the date of their appointment and quali-
fication and until their successors are appointed and qualify,
except that members of the first co---ission appointed shall
classify themselveK by lot so that one member holds office
for one year, one for two years, and one for three years,
and, in each instance, until a successor has been appointed
and qualified.
A Commissioner appointed to fill a vacancy created
by the death, resignation, incapacity or removal of a Com-
missioner shall hold office of the unexpired term of the
former incumbent.
Section 5. POWERS AND DUTIES:
The Parking Place Commission shall exercise the
powers set forth in Chapter 4, Part 4, Division 18, Streets
and Highways Code of the State of California, and such other
powers as they are duly authorized by law to carry out the
terms of said provisions.
Section 6. SECRETARY:
The Parking Place Commission may appoint a secretary
to hold office at the pleasure of the Co-~,ission. The
secretary shall keep a correct record of all proceedings at
the meetings. The minutes of each meeting of the Parking
Place Commission shall be Sig~ed by the secretary and by the
chairman and in the absence of the chairman by the vice chairman
In the absence of the chairman and the vice chairman, the
minutes shall be si§ned by the chair.~__n pro tern.
Section 7. ORGANIZATION:
Immediately upon their appointment and qualification,
the members of the Commission shall organize said Commission
and shall elect a chairman and vice chairman from their
members. The term of office of such chairman and of such
vice chairman shall be one year.
Section 8. MEETINGS:
The Parking Place Commission shall hold one meeting
each month in the City Hall in said City on such date and
at such time as said Commission may determine. All meetin§s
shall be open to the public. Special meetings ,~__y be called
at any time by the chairman, or by two m, em?bers of the Com-
mission by giving written notice to each member as required
by law. Such notice shall specify the purpose for which the
meeting was held.
Section 9. COMPENSATION:
Members of the Commission shall serve without com-
pensation. The City Council may fix compensation for the
secretary in accordance with the recommendation of the Com-
mission, not to exceed Twenty and no/lO0 DOLLARS
per month.

of South San Francisco at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this
20th day of March, 1961 , by the follow-
ing vote:
