AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 491 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ESTABLISHING
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS AND REPEALING SUPERSEDED
ORDINANCES"
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
I. Article XVIII, Section 18 and Section 18.1 of Ordinance
No. 491 passed and adopted the 7th day of October, 1963, entitled
~'AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ESTABLISHING
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS AND REPEALING SUPERSEDED ORDINANCES", is
hereby amended to read:
ARTICLE XVIII - Special Speed Zones
Section 18 - Increasin~ State Speed Limit in
Certain Zones- It is hereby determined upon
the basis o£ an engineering and traffic inves-
tigation that the speed permitted by State law
upon the following streets is less than is
necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon
by reason of the designation and sign-posting of
said streets as through highways and (or) by
reason of widely spaced intersections, and it
is hereby declared that the prima facie speed
shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets
or parts of streets herein designated when signs
are erected giving notice thereof:

intersection with Railroad
Avenue to the southerly City
limit
H. Spruce Avenue from Railroad 35
Avenue to E1 Camino Real
Section 18.1 - Decrease of State Law Maximum Speed -
It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engin-
eering and traffic investigation that the speed
permitted by state law outside of business and
residence districts as applicable upon the follow-
ing streets is greater than is reasonable or safe
under the conditions found to exist upon such streets,
and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed
limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets
or parts of streets herein designated when signs are
erected giving notice thereof:

II Publication and Effective Date: The City Clerk shall
certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause it to be pub-
lished once in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of genral cir-
culation, published and circulated in said City as required by law
within fifteen (15) days after its passage and shall take effect
and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.

Francisco at a megula~ meeting of the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco this 3~d day of Feb~ua~ , 1964 ,
