RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF $10,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM
GENENTECH TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO: CONNECTING THEN AND NOW,
A HISTORY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM WITH THE
HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO THROUGH THE LIBRARY
DEPARTMENT AND APPROVING BUDGET
AMENDMENT 22.028.
WHEREAS, Genentech has awarded the City $10,000 in grant funding to support the project
South San Francisco: Connecting Then and Now; and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") strategic plan goals include the
improvement and building of community connections under priority #6; and
WHEREAS, the Library will partner with the Historical Society of South San Francisco in an
effort to enhance the public's understanding of how our City's diversity shapes and contributes to the
City's history through the ongoing collection and preservation of materials; and
WHEREAS, grant funds will be used to hire and train two interns to process collections and
other materials currently inaccessible to the public; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of $10,000
from Genentech to fund the history partnership program and support efforts in processing and cataloging
materials, bring more public awareness to our collections, and encourage community engagement; and
WHEREAS, City Manager or designee are authorized to sign the South San Francisco:
Connecting Then and Now Grant Letter of Agreement provided by Genentech; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to amend Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-2022 Operating
Budget of the Library Department via Budget Amendment 22.028.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco does hereby accept $10,000 in grant funding from Genentech and approve Budget Amendment
22.028 to amend the Library Department's FY 2021-2022 Operating Budget in order to reflect an
increase of $10,000.

At a meeting of the Special City Council on 11/23/2021, a motion was made by Councilmember
Nicolas, seconded by Vice Mayor Nagales, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
