Box 711 (City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue) South San Francisco, CA City Council Resolution: RES 205-2021 File Number: 21-862 Enactment Number: RES 205-2021 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO AMEND THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022. WHEREAS, in September 2019, City Council adopted Ordinance 1587-2019 adding Chapter 8.71 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code relating to a City-wide minimum wage; and WHEREAS, Section 8.71.030 established the minimum wage of $15.00 per hour effective January 1, 2020, and that, beginning on January 1, 2021, and each January thereafter, the minimum wage shall increase by a percentage amount equal to the prior year's increase, if any, in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for San Francisco -Oakland -San Jose as determined by the United States Department of Labor, calculated using the August to August change in the CPI, rounded to the nearest nickel; and WHEREAS, the 2021 minimum wage is $15.25 per hour and the CPI from August 2020 to August 2021 for the San Francisco Area which covers San Francisco -Oakland -Hayward, increased by 3.7%, therefore setting the 2022 minimum wage at $15.80 per hour in compliance with Chapter 8.71.030 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, certain City employee classifications require a wage range adjustment to increase the range minimum from $15.69 hourly to $15.80 hourly effective January 1, 2022 to meet the new minimum wage rate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby approve the salary and wage schedule as of January 1, 2022, attached hereto as Exhibit A. At a meeting of the City Council on 12/8/2021, a motion was made by Councilmember Addiego, seconded by Councilmember Coleman, that this Resolution be approved. The motion passed.
