AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY GRADING
AND PRODUCING STANDARDS FOR MILK. .
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. GRADING AND PRODUCING sTANDARDs:
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporatiom
or agent or employee of any person, firm or corporation, to
sell, offer for sale, distribute or have in his or her pos-
session, for sale or distribution, any milk or cream for
human consumption, as milk or cream, unless it conforms to
the requirements of the Milk Ordinance of San Mateo County
and amendments thereto as far as applicable to the City of
South San Francisco and to the standards of grading and to
the requirements for production of milk or cream established
by the Agricultural Code of California, and amendments thereto.
SECTION II. PERMIT REQUIRED~
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to sell, expose or offer for sale,.within' the City of South
San Francisco any milk or cream unless such person, firm or
corporation shall have first obtained a permit from the Depart-
ment of Public Health and Welfare of San Mateo County to sell,
expose or offer for sale a specified grade or grades of milk
or cream.
SECTION III. NAME AND ADDRESS OF PRODUCER:
All cream to be sold, offered for sale or distribution as
m~rket cream shall be graded as Grade A cream with the name
and address of the producer or original bottler on the bottle
cap or container. Only Grade A cream or milk shall be used
for. the purpose of standardizing of Grade A milk. The class
or grade of all cream received in bulk by any consumer, user
or distributor shall appear plainly on or be attached to the
container along with the name and address of the distributor,
producer or shipper.
SECTION IV. REFRIGERATION:
Ail retail establishments handling and selling milk and
cream shall keep all milk and cream in a refrigerator of
sufficient caPacity to hold the amount of milk or cream handled
in said establishments, and said refrigerator must at all times
have a capacity of ice or refrigeration which will maintain.a
temperature under fifty degrees (50°) Fahrenheit within the
refrigerator.
SECTION V. INSPECTOR:
The duly appointed milk and dairy inspector of the County
of san Mateo is hereby empowered to perform the functions of
milk and dairy inspector within the City of South San Francisco
for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this chapter.
SECTION VI. EFFECTIVE DATE AND PUBLICATION:
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty
(30) days from and after the date of final passage and approval.
The Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and
cause the same to be published in the Enterprise-Jourmal as
required by law.
