AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO PROHIBITING THE GIVING OR
RECEIPT OF CERTAIN CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Ordinance is to prohibit the giving
or receipt of certain campaign contributions and to provide
penalties for violation thereof.
SECTION II. LICENSEES DEFINED:
Licensees for the purpose of this Ordinance shall mean
all franchise licensees whose rate for services to the public
is regulated by the City Council.
SECTION III. SOLICITATION OR ACCEPTANCE OF
CONTRIBUTION PROHIBITED:
A City Councilman or any person seeking election to
such office who directly or indirectly solieits~ receives or
agrees to receive any money or other thing of value, or any
promise therefor~ from any licensee named in: or any holder
of, any license issued by the City Council, or from any agent
of such licensee or license holder for a political campaign
of any person seeking election or reelection to the City
Council, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

SECTION IV. GIVING OF CONTRIBUTION PROHIBITED:
Any licensee named in~ oP any holder of~ any license
issued by the City Council who directly or indireetly~
either by himself or thPough another~ gives~ offers or
promises to give any money or other thing of value to any
persons group or association for any Political campaign of
any person seeking election or reelection to the office of
City Council is guilty of a misdemeanoP.
SECTION V. VIOLATIONS:
Any person violating any of the pPovisions of this
Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be
punishable therefor by a fine of not more than Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment for a period of not
more than six (6) months or by both such fine and imprison-
ment.
SECTION 'VI. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE:
This 0Pdinanee shall be published once in the "Enterprise-
Journals" a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
South San Fran¢isco~ as required by laws and shall become
effective thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.
