HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 625-1971ORDINANCE NO. 625 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 564, AS AMENDED, PROVIDING FOR ANiIiAL LICENSE FEES AND SHELTER SERVICE FEES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. AMENDmeNT OF SECTION VII OF ORDINANCE AS AMENDED. Section VII of 0rdinanee 564, adopted July 17, 1967, as amended, is hereby amended to read: SECTION VII. LICENSE FEE. An annual license fee of Six Dollars ($6.00) shall be paid for every dog over the age of three (3) months owned and harbored in this County; provided, however, that the fee shall be Three Dollars ($3.00) for a spayed female dog upon presentation with the application of a veterinarian certificate or other evidence of spaying. Said annual license fee shall be due the first day of January of each year, and any person who fails to pay such license fee within sixty (60) days after said fee is due, or said dog is required to be licensed, shall pay a penalty of Two Dollars ($2.00) in addition to the payment of the license fee herein required. A license shall be obtained but no license fee shall be payable for the licensing of any dog which is being used for guide purposes by a blind resident - 1- I I I [] I ii of said county, or for dogs which have served as a member of the armed forces of the United States of America during any period of actual hostilities, or for the licensing of. any dog owned and used by public agencies for law enforcement purposes. Licenses herein provided for shall be signed by the City Tax Collector, his duly-appointed deputy or other agency designated by the City, including the Tax Collector of the County of San Mateo or his duly-appointed deputy, and said licenses shall be issued in the same manner as other licenses· Fees 'collected by the City Tax Collector or his duly-appointed deputy, shall be paid into the general fund of the City. Fees collected for such licenses by other agencies designated by City, including the Tax Collector of the County of San Marco or his duly-appointed deputy, shall be paid into the general fund of said agency. Such licenses shall be numbered consecutively. SECTION II. AMENDMENT OF SECTION XIX OF ORDINANCE 564 AS AMENDED. Section XIX of Ordinance 564, adopted July 17, 1967, as amended, is hereby amended to read: SECTION XIX. FEES. The fees for animal shelter services in impounding and caring for animals shall be as follows, and no animal shall be released to its owner or kee~er before such fees are paid in full: - 2 - · I I ~II (1) For every horse, mare, mule, ass, bull, ox, or calf, the sum of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) and also the sum of Three Dollars ($3.00) per day for keeping each of said animals, to be paid by the owner thereof; (2) Fop every sheep, lamb, goat, or hog impounded, the sum of Eight Dollars ($8.00) and also the sum of Two Dollars ($2.00) per day for keeping each of said animals, to be paid by the owner thereof. For impounding any unlicensed dog the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00), for any licensed dog and all other animals not herein provided for, the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00), and also the sum of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1.50) per day for keeping each of said animals, to be paid by the owner thereof. (4)For posting notice of animals impounded, the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) for each notice. (5) For conducting sales, the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) for Each animal sold. SECTION III. AMENDMENT OF SECTION XXIV OF ORDINANCE 564 AS AMENDED. Section XXIV of Ordinance 564, adopted July 17, 1967, as amended, is hereby amended to read: SECTION XXIV. UNLAWFUL TO PERMIT ANIMALS TO~ESPASS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. It shall be unlawful for the owner, or - 3 - person having control or custody of any animal, to permit said animal to trespass upon any private property without the consent of the owner thereof, and it shall further be unlawful for said owner or keeper of any animal, after receiving written notice by registered mail from any owner or tenant of private property, to allow or permit said animal to remain upon said prop- erty or to habitually continue to trespass thereon. The owner or keeper of said animal shall be responsible for actual damage done by said animal. , SECTION IV. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be published once in the "Enterprise-Journal," a newspaper of general circulation in the City of South San Francisco, as ~equired by law, and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after its adoption.
