The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. via Teleconference meeting (Zoom).
ATTENDANCE
Library Trustees present:Diane Huddleston, Mary Giusti,Liru Chin, Hector Camacho, and
Claire Ramsey.Library staff present: Valerie Sommer, Library Director; Adam Elsholz,
Assistant Library Director; andElia Moreno, Administrative Assistant II.
APPROVAL OFMINUTES
Motion to approve the minutes from the September 28, 2021meeting was made, seconded and
approved as presented.

OLDBUSINESS
New Main Library and Parks & Recreation Community Center Project Update
Construction and planning of the New Main Library and Community Center has been very busy.
The steel structure foundation has been completed; work is currently being done on the floors
and walls of the new building. Library staff has been involved in various meetings to complete
the FF&E process including items like shelving, keying system and signage.
NEWBUSINESS
Discussion and Motion to Cancel the Regular Meeting of December 28, 2021
A discussion and motion to approve the cancellation of the regular meeting on December 28,
2021 was made, seconded and approved by the Library Board of Trustees.
Library Department Budget Narrative FY 2021-22
The Library Board of Trustees was presentedthe Library Department Budget Narrative for
Fiscal Year 2021 – 2022. Lists of accomplishments for FY 2020-21 and objectives for FY 2021-
22 werereviewed, as well as the budget overview including the Library position listing and

Operating Expenditures for FY 2021-22. The Library budget has a decrease of $66,208 in book
and A/V and a decrease of over $20,000 in digital resourcesin addition to other decreases
instituted last fiscal year. Good news - the “frozen” positions ca now be filled per the City
Manager and staff is currently recruiting for a f/t Librarian I/II.
AGENDA BUILDING
NewCommunity Civic Center Campus Update;Discussion and Motion to Approve the 2022
Holiday Schedule; Nominations for 2022 Slate of Officers; Renaming of the Community
Learning Center in Honor of Gene Mullin.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
All Library facilities, including the Main and Grand Avenue Libraries and the Community
thLearningCenter, will be closed Thursday, November 11in observance of Veterans Day; and
ththThursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for Thanksgiving.
thTheProjectReadTriviaChallengewillbeheldonFriday, November 19at the South San
Francisco Conference Center.
thTheCityCouncilReorganizationwillbeheldonTuesday, December 7.
