. City Employee Customer Service A wards - Assistant to the City Manager Susan
Kennedy introduced the following City employees: Christine Wesselius, Kris Peradotto,
Roger Loh, Fred Camacho, Kyle Broenkow, Norm Gok, Adam Plank, Sue Miller, John
Wong, Rob Romero, Joe Hunziker, Debbie Crisafi, Rich Giordano, Meg Cupman and
Mike Lappen. Not present: Juan Byron, Mike Riordan, Zeke Mead, and Mike
Borovina.
. Report on 4th of July illegal fireworks law enforcement activities - Fire Chief Phil White
presented a display of illegal fireworks and described the types of injuries that can be
sustained. Police Chief Mark Raffaelli commented on neighboring cities selling
fireworks irresponsibly, that extra patrols will be on duty, warnings will be given to
citizens and fireworks confiscated. He stated the lighted message board (traffic director)
has been posted at the entrance to the city on EI Camino Real at Noar Avenue, stating
fireworks are illegal in South San Francisco.
. Report on Gang Activities - Police Corporal Kenneth Hancock gave a video
presentation and discussed Norteno and Sureno gang symbols, tattoos, and recurring
graffiti problems.
. Proclamation: Parks & Recreation Month, July 2006 - Vice Mayor Garbarino presented
proclamation to Parks & Recreation Commissioners Gary Levene and Judy Bush.

. Announcements
. Committee Reports
Councilmembers reported on attendance at community and regional events and meetings,
announced upcoming events and fundraisers, and acknowledged members of the community for
their contributions.
Councilwoman Matsumoto reported the Congestion Management Air Quality Committee
(CMAQ) is developing a traffic incident management plan study for US-WI to divert traffic
through cities to mitigate congestion on the freeway when necessary, and suggested staffbe
actively involved in the study.
Vice Mayor Garbarino reported on a Fairfield Development subcommittee conference call with
Mayor Fernekes and that progress is being made.
CONSENT CALENDAR
I. Motion to approve the minutes of June 7 and 14, 2006
2. Motion to confirm expense claims of June 28, 2006 in the amount of $1 ,636,316.58
3. Motion to adopt an Ordinance No. 1371-2006, amending SSFMC Chapter 3.12 to
implement Council-approved position, title additions, deletions, and/or changes
4. Resolution No. 46-2006, authorizing the acceptance grant funding from various sources
to support Project Read and Children's Services Programs in the amount of $22,850, and
amend Library Department's FY 2005-06 operating budget
5. Motion to accept the Orange Memorial Park Tree Pruning and Removal Project as
complete
6. Resolution No. 47-2006, approving an agreement with the Department of Alcoholic
Beverage Control (ABC) to accept $55,602 in grant funding to conduct special
enforcement operations and amend Police Department's FY 2005-06 operating budget
Motion-Addiego/Second-Matsumoto: To approve the Consent Calendar, as submitted.
Unanimously approved by voice vote.
