AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 261,
AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PRO-
VIDING FOR LICENSING OF BUSINESS, PRO-
FESSIONS, TRADES, CALLINGS AND OCCUPA-
TIONS IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO"
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. ORDINANCE REFERENCE. The amendments to the sections
hereinafter set forth relate to Ordinance No. 261, as amended, passed February
24, 1947, entitled "An Ordinance Providing for Licensing of Business Profes-
sions, Trades, Callings and Occupations in the City of South San Francisco",
and is hereinafter referred to as the Business License Ordinance.
SECTION II. AMENDMENT OF SECTION 8.15. Section 8.15 of the Business
License Ordinance, as amended, is hereby amended to read:
SECTION 8.15. VENDING MACHINES. Every person commencing or
carrying on the business of rental, lease or operation of vending
machines within this City shall pay a license fee in an amount
determined by the License Collector based upon the gross receipts
of the applicant's business directly attributable to his business
activities conducted within the City in accordance with the
following schedule.

The column designated as Roman Numeral "I" applies to vending
machines dispensing tangible personal property or services and
intangible services,, except for mechanical amusement devices,
The column designated as Roman Numeral "II" applies to mechanL
ical amusement devices as provided for in Ordinance No. 636
passed the 5th day of September, 1972.
If the application is for an original license, he shall es-
timate the gross receipts directly attributable to the business
activities to be conducted within the City to be received during
the license period, which estimate shall be used in determining
the appropriate fee to be levied.
If the application is for a renewal, he shall report the
gross receipts directly attributable to the business activities
conducted within the City received during the previous license
period, which figure shall be used in determining the appropriate
fee to be levied. The previous license period for the purpOse of
applying this section in calendar year 1975, shall be calendar
year 1974.
The License Collector may demand an audit of any such appli-
cant's business and require him to submit a copy.of his state
sales and use tax returns relative to such business.

SECTION III. REPEAL OF SUBSECTION qO OF SECTION 8.19. Subsection
40 of Section 8.19 of the Business License Ordinance, is hereby repealed.
SECTION IV. PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall
take effect immediately upon adoption in accordance with Government Code Section
36937(c)' because it relates to taxes for the usual and current expenses of
the City,and upon adoption shall be published,within fifteen (15) days after
adoption,by the City Clerk in the Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of South San Francisco.
