HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 2022.03.08 @600 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO GENERAL PLAN UPDATE COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE Meeting held at: Teleconference meeting Tuesday, March 8, 2022 6:00 p.m. Call to Order Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. Roll Call COMMITTEE PRESENT: Rehman Baig, Kristy Camacho, Brandon Chan (6:15 pm), Nick Maiden, Julie Ann Murphy, Sam Shihadeh, John Skerry, Steven Yee, Bill Zemke COMMITTEE ABSENT: Roderick Bovee, Robert Cavalieri, Sophie Martin, Patricia Murray ALTERNATES PRESENT: Steve Firpo Public Comment None. Administrative Business 1. Welcome Comments Sam Shihadeh, CAC member and Planning Commission Chair provided welcome comments. He noted the importance of the community being involved and commenting on the General Plan. 2. General Plan Overview Eric Yurkovich, Raimi + Associates, provided an overview of the General Plan and the community input process over the past 2+ years. He also discussed the digital plan integration. Eric Yurkovich reviewed the required General Plan Elements and the other topics areas included in the Plan and noted the Plan will be organized by: Our Plan; Our Place; Our People; Our Environment; and Our Plan to Get There. 3. Community Open House Break-Out Rooms David Javid reviewed the future meeting dates and topics and the break-out room logistics. CAC members and community members were able to move between the following rooms: General Plan Overview; Land Use and Sub Areas; Housing and Housing Element update, Economy, Mobility, Parks/Environmental & Cultural Stewardship, Climate Protection, Community Health/Environmental Justice & Equitable community Services/Community Resilience, Noise and EIR and Spanish speaking. 4. CAC Discussion • Steven Yee, like the layout of the General Plan, especially web based version. Would have prefer the rooms to layout more directly to the General Plan chapters. • Julie Ann Murphy commented that she appreciates the organizational structure of the General Plan with the four overarching themes. She finds it to be more approachable and user friendly. Also appreciate the performance metrics being easy to navigate. • Steve Firpo agreed the General Plan is very comprehensive and enjoyed the format of tonight’s presentation. Public Comments • Sarah Funes, Planning Commissioner, noted her appreciation for the format of the meeting. She noted that she enjoyed speaking on the different topic areas in a free flowing manner. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2022 to review the Draft Climate Action Plan.
