Each city in California must prepare a General Plan to guide its future, which serves as a comprehensive long-term plan for the physical and programmatic development of the city. The City of South San Francisco began revisiting the General Plan in early 2019, led by Planning Division staff and a consultant team from Raimi + Associates. A General Plan Community Advisory Committee was established with the purpose of creating a citizens advisory group to provide guidance for programs and policies, and guide the future of South San Francisco development. The Committee is presently comprised of five resident representatives, two Planning Commissioners and an alternate, three business community representatives and an alternate, a school board member and a Parks and Recreation Commissioner and alternate. A draft and more information about the General Plan can be found at https://shapessf.com/. While topics relevant to the Cultural Arts Commission are embedded throughout many sections of the General Plan, chapters that may be of particular interest to the Cultural Arts Commission are: • Chapter 10: Abundant and Accessible Parks and Recreation https://shapessf.com/abundant-accesible-parks-recreation/ • Chapter 15: Environmental and Cultural Stewardship https://shapessf.com/environmental-cultural-stewardship/ In addition to reading the General Plan draft in its downloadable form, the shapessf.com website offers features that make the Plan searchable by section and topic. The public is invited to provide feedback on the Public Review Draft General Plan elements, goals, policies, and actions by May 31, 2022. Feedback can be submitted online at shapessf.com/plan-feedback.
