CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00P.M. via Teleconference meeting (Zoom).
ATTENDANCE
Library Trustees present:Diane Huddleston, Mary Giusti,Liru Chin,and Hector Camacho.
Library Staff present: Valerie Sommer, Library Director; Adam Elsholz, Library Assistant

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion to approve the minutes fromtheApril 26,2022,meeting was made, seconded,and
approved as presented.

OLD BUSINESS
New Main Library and Parks & Recreation Community Center Project(LPR)Update
Construction of the LPR has been fast and very noticeable. Placement of the curtain wall for the
new building has begun.
request for $1.5 million to support the New Library in South SanFranciscolooks like it will be
successful, although final approval is still pending.
NEW BUSINESS
Summer Learning Challenge Presentation
Library Program Manager, Han-Ching Wong presentedto the Library Boardof Trusteesregarding

the Summer Learning Challenge. The 2022 Summer Learning Challenge will run from June 1
st
through August 31. During the month of May, the Youth Services team completed outreachto
Daly CityandSan Brunoelementary schoolsthat are part of SSFUSD, as well asall nine South
San Francisco elementary schools. Each week, staff will provide resources and projects in four

different categories: Explore, Read, Express Yourself and Make. Special weekly events and
programs will also be held for children to attend. Five premiere programs will be held with features
(in-person at both Main & Grand Avenue Libraries), Bay
Area Discovery Museum and the Beetle Lady.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The South San Francisco Public Library Book Club meets virtually via Zoom on the third Tuesday
of each month at 6:00 P.M. The Junebook club selection is The Midnight LibrarybyMatt Haig.
