1. ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS
1) 2020 Recap and 2021 Look Ahead
Chris Espiritu, Secretary to the committee, shared a PowerPoint presentation summarizing the committee’s
accomplishments in 2020, as well as focus items for 2021. Upcoming items for the committee’s consideration included
continued involvement in the review of projects, as well as anticipated participation in the General Plan Update, Bike and
Ped Plan Update, Vision Zero, the Complete Streets Initiative, and Shared Streets.
A score sheet produced by the League of American Bicyclists was also discussed with a summary of suggested action
items to improve the City of South San Francisco’s current score of “bronze”.
COMMITTEE COMMENTS
• Expressed interest in providing stronger community outreach, such as bike forums, to spread awareness for
bike safety and encourage participation in BPAC initiatives
• Pop up “kitchens or clinics” were suggested as an antidote to the City’s lack of retail and maintenance bike
shops; BPAC Secretary committed to advocating for this within our agency and integrating into Shared Streets
program
• Bike and Ped Plan Update status requested; BPAC Secretary explained that while Covid-19 had temporarily
halted progress, staff has resumed work to ensure that the Bike and Ped Plan is ready for integration into the
General Plan Update
• Parks and Recreation department as collaborator on future bike safety programs for all ages
ACTION: Distribute League of American Bicyclist score sheet to BPAC via email (Secretary to committee)
2) Emails from the public
