ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS 1) Bicycle For All Program – Mike Futrell, City Manager Mike Futrell, City Manager presented the Bicycles for All program. City Manager Futrell explained this is something we want to do we want to make sure that every child in our community has an opportunity, to have a bike, to get trained on the bike, to have a bike helmet, and enjoy it. COMMITTEE COMMENTS • Committee members would be interested in helping this because, as a child or you know, like bikes are a great opportunity for you as a child, if you're having other problems bikes are a great escape. • Training bike riders may not be the right approach, maybe making bikes fun to ride again, so possibly targeting this as like creating like a bike Park, you know, like a skate park type of situation. • Could be an opportunity for us to interact with schools in the City. • One barrier that has come up in a lot of meetings before, is that we don't have local by shops. At least within South city it'd be a little bit of travel for folks to be able to go and get either supplies accessories or get something fixed. Some cities will have a day, where they'll set up shop and it's maybe a regular event, where you can go and get your bike checked out and maybe there's a place around the city some public property, where they are encouraged to come out and set up shop, each weekend, or maybe once a month, they can get questions answered or new helmets, elbow pads, or things fixed. ACTION: None taken 2) Emails from the public No emails have been received from the public. COMMITTEE COMMENTS • Committee member Guzman introduced herself and explained why she chose to join the Committee. ACTION: None taken STAFF COMMENTS • Committee Clerk, Catherine Misener explained to the group that she had taken a position in another Department within the City, and introduced Michele Clary, the Administrative Assistant for the Planning Department, who would be taking over as Committee Clerk.
