4. Mayor declares the purpose ofthe meeting: City Council reorganization

5. Introduction of Elected Officials
Mayor Femekes introduced State, County and City officials present in the audience.
6. Reorganization of the City Council
a. Nominations for Mayor; close of nominations; appointment
Motion-GonzalezlSecond-Matsumoto: To nominate and elect Vice Mayor Garbarino
as Mayor. Unanimously approved by voice vote.
b. Remarks from Outgoing Mayor, passing of the gavel to Incoming Mayor
Outgoing Mayor Femekes introduced his family members, acknowledged Council,
city staff and the community for their support and assistance, and reflected upon the
past year and accomplishments. Outgoing Mayor F emekes concluded by passing
the gavel to Incoming Mayor Garbarino.
c. Nominations for Vice Mayor; close of nominations; appointment
Motion-Femekes/Second-Matsumoto: To nominate and elect Councilman Gonzalez as
Vice Mayor. Unanimously approved by voice vote.
d. Oaths of office administered
Assemblyman Gene Mullin administered the oaths of office to Mayor Garbarino and
Vice Mayor Gonzalez.
e. Incoming Mayor's remarks
Mayor Garbarino introduced his family, commented on the City's recent successes,
including biotechnology, Centennial Park and the proposed Orange Park recreation
building, and is looking forward to working for the City's future.
7. Presentation to Outgoing Mayor
Mayor Garbarino presented a commending resolution, gavel plaque, red necktie and
personalized street sign to Outgoing Mayor Fernekes. Flowers were presented to Mrs.
Fernekes and Mrs. Garbarino.
Councilman Addiego commended Outgoing Mayor Fernekes on a successful job as Mayor
during 2006 and recognized his 25 years of public service.
8. Adjournment
Being no further business, Mayor Garbarino adjourned the meeting at 7:44 p.m.
