by teleconference only pursuant to the provisions of the -25-20 and N-
29-20 issued on March 17, 2020 allowing for deviation of teleconference rules required by the Brown Act
and pursuant to the order of the Health Officer of San Mateo County dated March 31, 2020.
You are invited to offer your suggestions. In order that you may know our method of conducting Library

associated with naming of City facilitiesandwas finalized on August 1, 2005. It is attached for
your reference. In addition tothepractice of naming facilities based on geographic location, for
easy reference by our residents, the Instruction also acknowledges special recognition of
individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the City, including, in this current request,
individuals who are being honored for their public service as an elected official and/or as a
community volunteer. The Library Board of Trustees reviewed this requestin an open, virtual
ZOOM meeting at their February 28, 2023regular meeting and directed staff, via consensus, to

to the City and Residents of South San Francisco and
Dedication to Lifelong Reading and Learning
Jackie Speier spent her early years living in South San Francisco,
attending local schools, shopping on Grand Avenue, and
exploring the many treasures to be found at her local public
library. Proudly representing South San Francisco and much of
th
Congressional District
from 2008 through 2022, Jackie Speier has been a strong
hts, human rights, LGBTQ+ equality,
violence prevention, environmental justice, and government
accountability. Prior to her election to Congress, Ms. Speier
served on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the
California State Legislature. As our local Congresswoman, one
last initiatives in 2022 was securing $1.5 million
dollars in federal funding to support our Library I Parks and
Recreation Center. Her support, advocacy, and deep friendships
in our South San Francisco Community are much appreciated
and celebrated.
