HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Meeting 01-15-09 (PLANNING COMMISSION)PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA 2679-2009 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING EUGENE SIM WHEREAS, Eugene provided invaluable service to the Planning Commission during his three-term, twelve year tenure (1997 - 2008) on the Planning Commission of the City of South San Francisco, serving as Chairperson in 2000; and WHEREAS, during this time the City experienced extensive growth and development in all sectors of the community highlighted by several million square feet of life science campus development, including the Genentech Founder’s Research Center buildings, Britannia Oyster Point I and II, Britannia East Grand, and the Alexandria Technology Center; substantial commercial development including Lowe’s Home Improvement Center and Costco; as well as numerous residential projects including Parc Place, Terrabay, Promenade, South City Lights, Oak Farms, Chestnut Creek Senior Housing, Oak Avenue Affordable Housing and Park Station Lofts; and WHEREAS, Eugene provided a consistent voice for high quality design, fair and consistent treatment of applicants, and neighborhood compatibility; and WHEREAS, during Eugene’s tenure the Planning Commission addressed challenging land use policy issues associated with the future of South San Francisco, including a complete revision of the City’s General Plan, as well as significant amendments to the Zoning Ordinance including adoption of Genentech’s 10-year Master Plan, the Transit Village Overlay District, the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, the Cultural Arts Ordinance, the Residential Second Unit Ordinance, the Child Care Impact Fee Ordinance and the Transportation Demand Management Ordinance; and WHEREAS, Eugene has served with distinction providing invaluable architectural expertise and taking projects to “the next level” by using creative concepts while effectively reaching the City’s land use goals; and WHEREAS, throughout his many years as a Commissioner Eugene has shown a strong commitment and dedication to the stewardship of the community, and preserving the character of the City’s neighborhoods. Special appreciation is extended for his efforts as a member of the following subcommittees: Design Review Board submittal requirements, 111 Chestnut Project, and the Transit Village Zone subcommittee, and for his involvement in the design and completion of the Gateway Childcare Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of Eugene’s hard work and achievements, the City of South San Francisco Planning Commission hereby expresses its sincere appreciation and wishes him well in his future endeavors. * * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Planning Commission of the City of South San Francisco at its regular meeting of Thursday, January 15th, 2009. 2680-2009 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MARC C TEGLIA WHEREAS, Marc was appointed to the Planning Commission in 1997 and served three terms (1997-2008) during which time he provided invaluable service to the City of South San Francisco, serving as Chairperson in 2005; and WHEREAS, during his time on the Commission the City experienced extensive growth and development in all sectors of the community highlighted by several million square feet of life science campus development, including the Genentech Founder’s Research Center buildings, Britannia Oyster Point I and II, Britannia East Grand, and the Alexandria Technology Center; substantial commercial development including Lowe’s Home Improvement Center and Costco, as well as numerous residential projects including Parc Place, Terrabay, Promenade, South City Lights, Oak Farms, Oakmont Vistas, Chestnut Creek Senior Housing, Oak Avenue Affordable Housing and Park Station Lofts; and WHEREAS, Marc provided patient guidance and common sense recommendations on critical land use issues with integrity and a professional mannerism; and WHEREAS, during Marc’s tenure the Planning Commission undertook a complete revision of the City’s General Plan, as well as significant amendments to the Zoning Ordinance including the Genentech 10-year Master Plan, the Transit Village Overlay District, the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, the Cultural Arts Ordinance, the Residential Second Unit Ordinance, the Child Care Impact Fee Ordinance and the Transportation Demand Management Ordinance; and WHEREAS, Marc has been an active participant at every Planning Commission meeting and has exhibited a high level of interest in the community on urban design, neighborhood preservation and environmental issues; and WHEREAS, throughout his many years as a Commissioner, Marc has shown a strong commitment and dedication to the stewardship of the community and to preserving the character of the City’s neighborhoods. Special appreciation is extended for his subcommittee work on the Planning Commission bylaws, Design Review Board submittal requirements, Transit Village Zone, and the Terrabay Phase III subcommittee, as well as for his significant contributions and guidance on the Genentech Master Plan Implementation Plan and the City’s Telecommunications Ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of Marc’s hard work and achievements, the City of South San Francisco Planning Commission hereby expresses its sincere appreciation and wishes him well in his future endeavors. * * * * * * I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Planning Commission of the City of South San Francisco at its regular meeting of Thursday, January 15th, 2009.
