CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes for June 7, 2023
Approved by BPAC 3-0-2: Committee Member McAuley motioned, Chair Guzman Seconded.
Vice-Chair Yip – As Amended with comments about the Utah overpass.

2. Every Kid Deserves a Bike Program - BPAC Update
• Committee member Hollenback – Asked how many bicycles were left over and if this program will
happen next year.
o There are 69 bicycles left over, there will be a bike event where they donate 20 bicycles.
• Committee member Gore – Mentioned the program has improved since last year; kids are more
engaged. Suggested the program provides more space for teaching and to separate by skill. Small
class setups before the entire group practices together.
• Chair Guzman – Mentioned how well done the events were, especially the farmer’s market.
• Vice-Chair Yip – Asked does the City have an after school enrichment program? Would like to see
long-term engagement with these bicycle programs.
o Parks and Rec has multiple afterschool programs.
• Secretary Espiritu – Asked if the program is educating the children were to ride in SSF.
o They were shown the bicycle routes.
ACTION: Informational: None taken, none required
COMMITTEE COMMENTS
• Chair Guzman – Signed a BPAC Letter of Support for a Grant for LOS for Spruce Elementary; funding
will be used to install new bike racks on campus.
STAFF COMMENTS
3. Complete Streets Leadership Academy - Update (Chris Espiritu, Senior Transportation Planner)
• Secretary Espiritu to provide an update in the July meeting regarding installation and volunteer
activities for BPAC members.
o Starting construction late July – stripping, painting, etc. Caltrans will be repaving the streets
later this year and will restripe again.
o Platforms were ordered from Spain and are currently in transit; after the 10-week
demonstration, SamTrans will be buying the platforms from us to use in neighboring cities.
o The encroachment permit has been completed and is in hand!
o The launch will take place in late August – it will need volunteers.
• Committee member Gore – Would like an update on the milestones BPAC has achieved from the Bike
& Ped Plan.
• Chair Guzman – Asked if Police is receiving our request to discuss the statistics.
• Vice-Chair Yip – Mentioned Engagement SSF and asked about the recruitment for the vacancy.
